Diversity and Inclusion Commission Meeting, August 7, 2023 The meeting was called to order at 7:05 pm by Chair Noe Villarreal at the Warrensburg Community Center Room 3. The voting members present were Noe Villarreal. Atsuki Mori, Dorothy Arvizu, Melissa Frey, and Elizabeth Hargrave; the non-voting members Ellie Bowman, Chief Andy Musterman, Council member Eddie Osborne, and Heather Salazar; and guests Allison Roots, David Cook, and Barbara Curtis. The approval of the agenda was discussed. Atsuki moved to approve the agenda. Dorothy seconded. The motion was carried unanimously. The approval of minutes was discussed. Melissa moved to approve the minutes from 7/20/2020, 10/5/2020, 9/6/2022, and 10/3/2023. Atsuki seconded. The motion was carried unanimously. There was no meeting on 3/6/2023 due to a lack of quorum. The minutes from 2/6/2023 and 7/5/23 are missing. The Juneteenth grant was discussed. Erica will present it, date is to be determined. Possible proclamations were discussed. National Hispanic Heritage Month is 9/16 - 10/15. The proclamation will be read at the city council meeting on 9/25. The National Disability Employment Awareness Month proclamation will be read at the City Council meeting on 10/9. Native American Heritage Month is in November. UCM Pow Wow on 11/11. The proclamation will be read at the city council meeting on 11/13. Event items were discussed. The Community Connection Fair will be held on 9/30, 10 am to 1 pm at WMS. Get the Red Out will be on 9/9. We will bring the game and a wheel. Atsuki will pick up a wheel from UCM Health Center. Noe and Ellie will be at the table. Liz will donate prizes. Our inventory is stored at WPD. The goal of tabling event is to promote communication. We will try a box to put voices from the community members at the table. To comply with Sunshine Law, any emails with topics related to DIC should be sent to Noe and carbon-copied to Jodi. Do not send emails to all members. The next monthly meeting will be on Wednesday, 9/6, at 7 pm. The meeting was adjourned at 8:10 pm.
