WARRENSBURG TREE BOARD BOARD MINUTES January 26, 2017 The Warrensburg Tree Board met in regular session on January 26, 2017 at the Warrensburg Community Center, 445 E. Gay. The meeting was called to order by Larry Olpin at 4:04 pm. Members in attendance: Larry Olpin, Leslie Bayless and Jay Raveill. Absent were Trish Smith and Kevin Courtwright. Others in attendance: Barbara Carroll and Chuck Conner.  Agenda: Leslie Bayless moved to approve the agenda with no changes, Jay Raveill seconded. Approved 3-0.  Minutes: Jay Raveill moved to approve the minutes with two minor spelling changes, Leslie Bayless seconded. Approved 3-0.  Discussion Items o 2016 Tree City USA Application Leslie Bayless reports that the application was completed and turned in prior to the deadline so just waiting at this point. o TRIM Grant Update  Tree Contractor Selection Barbara Carroll reported that the contract was ready to sign and reminded us that the Selection Committee had recommended Campbell Tree Service. General discussion was held regarding insurance requirements. Leslie Bayless moved to accept the Selections Committee recommendation of Campbell Tree Service, Jay Raveill seconded. Approved 3-0.  Date for KOKO radio show Larry Olpin will plan on February or March and will contact Dodee Mathews to schedule the date.  Date for Master Gardener’s Presentation Leslie Bayless will schedule the presentation at tonight’s meeting.  Planning for Educational Workshop The Pruning Workshop held last November fulfills this obligation. o Identifying Essential Street and Park Ash Trees to Keep and Treat Barbara Carroll reports that the Tree Management Plan from April 2014 has been updated and there are four Ash trees identified for treatment. However, one of those is on UCM property so the University is going to treat that one and maybe one other. She passed out maps showing the locations of the trees in Cave Hollow Park and Lake Ridge subdivision. o City-Wide Public Tree Monitoring Project General discussion was held as to whether this was necessary at this point. The first part of the tree inventory was five years ago so perhaps checking those areas first and follow with other areas the next year. Chuck Conner suggested that late June to July was a good time as stress  and health problems will be easier to spot. Perhaps some UCM students could be involved with that. o Education/Outreach Efforts  MCFC Conference-March 7-9, 2017 Kevin Courtwright is scheduled to attend.  Trail around Racehorse Lake at Pertle Springs map Jay Raveill reports that the bridge is finished but there is still a lot of work to make the trail assessable and with the budget cuts UCM is experiencing is not sure what or when it will be done.  Earth and/or Arbor Day Celebrations We would like to combine the Arbor Day celebration with Earth Day like the past couple years but do not know the date at this point. Leslie Bayless will contact a CEA member to find out the date before next month’s meeting. o Other Jay Raveill reports that the BioBlitz is scheduled for the third Saturday in April and plans to have another educational walk. We could have a table set up as well.  Next Meeting Date: Next meeting date is set for February 23, 2017.  Adjourn: Leslie Bayless moved to close the meeting, Jay Raveill seconded. Approved 3-0.
