WARRENSBURG TREE BOARD BOARD MINUTES March 23, 2017 The Warrensburg Tree Board met in regular session on February 23, 2017 at the Warrensburg Community Center, 445 E. Gay St. The meeting was called to order by Larry Olpin at 4:06 pm. Members in attendance: Larry Olpin, Leslie Bayless and Jay Raveill. Others in attendance: none  Agenda: Leslie Bayless moved to approve the agenda with one correction (adding ‘Approval of the Agenda’ to the Agenda) Jay Raveill seconded. Approved 3-0.  Minutes: Jay Raveill moved to approve the minutes with no corrections. Leslie Bayless seconded. Approved 3-0.  Discussion Items o TRIM Grant Update  Tree Contractor Selection We have seen Campbell Tree Service working around town but nothing else to report.  KOKO radio show Larry Olpin reports that he discussed the TRIM Grant and Tree Board on March 6th on KOKO Radio with Woody.  Master Gardener’s Presentation Leslie Bayless advised she did a presentation to the Master Gardeners on February 23rd about the TRIM Grant and explaining why we are concentrating on Ash trees. She also handed out MDC pamphlets about Emerald Ash Borer.  Planning for Educational Workshop Jay Raveill is planning another tree walk in conjunction with UCM’s BioBlitz on April 23rd. We will also set up an information table and have a tree give-a-way. Larry Olpin will get the tree purchased and delivered to UCM greenhouse. Leslie Bayless will get the Tree Board Box from the city, add the leftover EAB flyers and get to Trish Smith as she needs it the day before.  KCP&L Larry Olpin reported that he got an email from Trish Smith that perhaps we should not pursue any help or donations from KCP&L at this time due to the recent tornado in the area. She has not followed up further on this in the hopes that any assistance or donated trees would go to those damaged areas. o Education/Outreach Efforts  MCFC Conference-March 7-9, 2017 Jay Raveill reports that he knows Kevin Courtwright did attend the Conference so hope to get a report from him next month  Trail around Racehorse Lake at Pertle Springs map No Report   Earth and/or Arbor Day Celebrations Larry Olpin confirmed that he is available to work the Arbor Day/Earth Day celebration on April 22, 1:30 – 3:30 pm. Trish Smith is planning to be there as well and has been coordinating with Angela Palmer of the CEA group on the particulars. Larry Olpin will get the tree purchased and delivered to UCM greenhouse. Leslie Bayless will get the Tree Board Box from the city, add the leftover EAB flyers and get to Trish Smith. o Other  Tree Health Tour Jay Raveill reported that he will be emailing Chuck Conner with possible dates for the Tree Health Tour this summer. We need to figure out a back-up plan or a cancellation process if Chuck Conner has to cancel last minute because of wildfires.  Budget Request General discussion about budget concerns.  2017 TRIM Grant Application General discussion but felt we needed all members present.  Public Question Larry Olpin received a call from a lady wanting some help with tree selection. He advised that he started to tell her about the tree lists on the website but not sure she even has a computer. Jay Raveill took her name and number and said that he or Keven Courtwright would call her.  New contact information Leslie Bayless reminded everyone to get Trish Smith’s new phone number from her recent email and update their contact lists.  Next Meeting Date: Next meeting date is set for April 20, 2017.  Adjourn: Jay Raveill moved to close the meeting, Leslie Bayless seconded.
