· Discussion Items
o Officers
Jay Raveill welcomed Suzy Latare back to the Warrensburg Tree Board. He further stated that
he did not wish to continue as Chair and that Suzy had graciously agreed to accept it. Agreed by
acclimation.
o Bioblitz
Jay Raveill reports that everything is set up for Saturday. The BioBlitz starts at 9:00 am and he
will hold a Tree Hike at 1:00 pm. Kevin Courtwright confirmed that he will get the tree for the
raffle to Jay Raveill by Saturday. Suzy Latare volunteered a display rack that could be used that
day.
o TRIM Grant Update 2017
Jason McCarty advised that we received our seventh TRIM Grant! The $10,000 grant and the
match is approved and in the budget. He is working on the contract now and there are a few
trees to be juggled but will get with Chuck Conner on that. He reminded us to keep track of our
hours.
o Dues
Alliance For Community Trees
Jason McCarty reports that this was paid last year.
Arbor Day Foundation
Jason McCarty reports that he cannot tell. General discussion about where the bills actually go,
to who? Jason will check with Barb Carroll on this issue.
o Fall Workshop
We do not have one scheduled per se. Jason McCarty advised that the city employees would
like a hands on pruning workshop dedicated to them. He will schedule that with Chuck Conner.
o Web Page Update
Concerns expressed that when the map is enlarged enough to be usable, it is unreadable. Jason
advised he can re-load the maps if Chuck Conner can resend them to him. Jay Raveill reported
that he is currently working on a tree trail map for Sunset Hill Cemetery.
o ReLeaf Participation
Forest ReLeaf of Missouri provides potted 3-gallon trees and shrubs free of charge for planning
on public or no-profit properties. The Rotary Club has offer assistance in planting. General
discussion about whether this is something we want to do. The application is due in February so
we need to check available planting sites and interest. Suzy will check with Board of Services,
Leslie with Parks and Recreation and Jay with a couple of churches.
o Other
Jason McCarty advised that at number of the trees on Holden Street are going to be removed as
the roots are damaging electrical under the sidewalks as well as the sidewalks themselves. The
Arts Commission is proposing a “Sculpture on Loan” program for the sites.
· Next Meeting Date: Next meeting date is set for October 26, 2017.
· Adjourn: Suzy Latare moved to adjourn the meeting, Christian Cutler seconded. Approved 5-0. The
meeting was adjourned at 5:02 pm.
