WARRENSBURG TREE BOARD BOARD MINUTES October 26, 2017 The Warrensburg Tree Board met in regular session on October 26, 2017 at the Warrensburg Community Center, 445 E. Gay St. The meeting was called to order by Suzy Latare at 4:06 pm. Members in attendance: Suzy Latare, Leslie Bayless and Jay Raveill. Others in attendance: Jason McCarty  Agenda: Jay Raveill moved to approve the agenda. Leslie Bayless seconded. Approved 3-0.  Minutes: Leslie Bayless moved to approve the September 28, 2017 minutes. Jay Raveill seconded. Approved 3-0.  Discussion Items o TRIM Grant Update 2017 Jason McCarty advised that the Request for Bids has been published and that bids will be opened in the Council Chambers on November 9th at 10:00 am. Suzy Latare agreed to attend. Leslie Bayless brought up that we had discussed doing some toe tags on a few of the larger trees in Shepherd Park. General discussion. Leslie will contact former board member, Trish Smith, to get some direction on this. Suzy Latare questioned what other publicity we had planned. Jay Raveill will check with Parks and Recreation about timeslots for the radio. Suzy agreed to do the radio show if we can get it scheduled. o Education/Outreach efforts  BioBlitz Jay Raveill reports that the BioBlitz was a bit disorganized this year, there were no announcements given on what was happening when and major events seems to be overlapping. As a result, the Tree Hike participation was disappointing. However, the Tree Raffle was well received and went to a lady from Knob Noster Holden. Jason McCarty reminded Jay that he needed the receipt for the tree. (Kevin Courtwright has that so Jay will remind him)  Tree Care 101 brochure These were updated this year and are available on the website. General discussion about getting the information to the public. Attaching brochure to sale tags at local retailers? Suzy Latare will check with Ace Hardware and Leslie Bayless will check with Lowes to see if they would be willing to let us do that. o Tree City USA Recertification Leslie Bayless advised that she has worked on this the last several years and that Suzy Latare was who taught her so there are two of us familiar with the process. General discussion. We need to enlist the other board members as well so there will be better carryover as board  members leave. Leslie will contact Slim Coleman at the City to obtain the necessary facts and figures. o Update Tree Board Contacts Leslie Bayless provided a copy of the current Contacts List. General discussion and revision. o Other Business  Dues Jason McCarty reports that the Arbor Day Foundation membership was not paid last year however he will be receiving the bills for both the Arbor Day Foundation and the Alliance for Community Trees from now on and will see that they are paid.  ReLeaf Participation Leslie Bayless advised that she checked with Parks and Recreation and that they are familiar with ReLeaf and are actually picking up some trees this week. They may make a good partner on this if we decide to proceed. Leslie will follow-up with Jeff Coleman at Parks and Recreation. Suzy Latare and Jay Raveill do not have any feedback yet from their contacts. General discussion about planting help. FFA? 4H? Eagle Scouts?  Next Meeting Date: Next meeting falls on Thanksgiving Day so will be changed to November 30th.  Adjourn: Jay Raveill moved to adjourn the meeting, Leslie Bayless seconded.
