WARRENSBURG TREE BOARD BOARD MINUTES January 25, 2018 The Warrensburg Tree Board met in regular session on January 25, 2018 at the Warrensburg Community Center, 445 E. Gay St. The meeting was called to order by Suzy Latare at 4:04 pm. Members in attendance: Suzy Latare, Leslie Bayless, Kevin Courtwright and Jay Raveill. Others in attendance: Jason McCarty · Agenda: Jay Raveill moved to approve the agenda with the addition of Tree Planting with Rotary Club and the TRIM Grants. Kevin Courtwright seconded. Approved 4-0. · Minutes: Jay Raveill advised that the person who won the tree at the BioBlitz was from Holden, not Knob Noster. Kevin Courtwright moved to approve the October 26, 2017 minutes with that correction. Jay Raveill seconded. Approved 4-0. · Discussion Items o TRIM Grant Update 2017 Jason McCarty advised that four trees are already down and hopes to have the contract removals done by the end of March. The Tree Board is in good shape on publicity once we get the press release and radio spot finished. o TRIM Grant 2018 Jason McCarty advised that he is compiling a list of possible trees for removal and that we should let him know of any hazardous trees we are aware of. The plan is to have it completed by May 4st. General discussion about keeping the Tree Inventory updated and if grant money could be used to “re-inventory” at some point. Suzy Latare will communicate with Chuck Conner on this issue. o Education/Outreach efforts  Tree Toe Tags The Toe Tags are ready for printing and laminating but as is late in the game perhaps just a press release this year. Suzy Latare will follow up on this with the newspaper.  KOKO Radio Spot General discussion about changes within Parks and Recreation and who our contact people were. Jay Raveill will contact Parks and Recreation about their time slot. Suzy Latare confirmed she will attend.  Tree Care 101 brochure Tabled until February meeting  Earth Day Leslie Bayless announced that CEA is holding their event on April 21st and feels we should attend. However, she also advises that we need to be careful about combining  our Arbor Day celebration with Earth Day and keep some sort of separation as the Tree City USA application requires it. General discussion.  Arbor Day General discussion about something at the library, a story reading perhaps. Suzy Latare will check with library about available dates, April 7th or 21st in the morning. Leslie Bayless will check with the fire department about Smokey the Bear.  Forest ReLeaf of Missouri Suzy Latare reported that she has spoken to Jill Wilson at the Rotary Club and they would like to partner with us on this project. The order form is not online yet so we cannot know for sure what species are available but will use the Recommended Trees for Warrensburg list as a guide. UCM has agreed to let us use the Mitchell Street Farm for a staging area. Everyone needs to work on locating planting sites on public or nonprofit lands! Leslie Bayless will draft a press release for review. o Confirm term expirations Suzy Latare went over the term expirations and we discussed what happens when someone comes in to finish an unexpired term. Leslie Bayless advised that the website needs to be updated. Suzy Latare will email corrections and changes to the City. · Other Business  Dues Jason McCarty reports that the Arbor Day Foundation membership has been paid.  Tree City USA Recertification Leslie Bayless advised that she completed the application by the deadline.  MCFC Conference Leslie Bayless announced the conference is scheduled for March 13-15 this year and the registration is open.
