COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20004 CHAIRMAN PHIL MENDELSON COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE ANNOUNCES A PUBLIC HEARING on Bill 25-189, “Commission on the Arts and Humanities Acting Executive Director Amendment Act of 2023” PR 25-135, “Commission on the Arts and Humanities Aaron Myers Confirmation Resolution of 2023” on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Noon (or immediately following the preceding hearing) Live via Zoom Video Conference Broadcast (Track B) Chairman’s Website (www.ChairmanMendelson.com/live) DC Council Website (www.dccouncil.gov) Council Chairman Phil Mendelson announces a public hearing before the Committee of the Whole on Bill 25-189, the “Commission on the Arts and Humanities Acting Executive Director Amendment Act of 2023” and PR 25-135, the “Commission on the Arts and Humanities Aaron Myers Confirmation Resolution of 2023.” The hearing will be held at Noon on Thursday, March 30, 2023 (or immediately following the preceding hearing). The stated purpose of Bill 25-189 is to amend the Commission on the Arts and Humanities Act to provide procedures to fill a vacancy in the position of Executive Director of the Commission. The stated purpose of PR 23-135 is to confirm the appointment of Aaron Myers Executive Director of the Commission to fill an unexpired term ending September 30, 2024. The Commission is an independent agency that consists of 16 members. Its role is to evaluate and initiate action on matters relating to the arts and humanities and to encourage programs that promote progress in the arts and humanities. Those who wish to testify must register at http://www.ChairmanMendelson.com/testify by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28, 2023. Testimony is limited to four minutes. Witnesses who anticipate needing spoken language interpretation, or require sign language interpretation, are requested to inform the Committee office of the need as soon as possible but no later than five business days before the proceeding. We will make every effort to fulfill timely requests, although alternatives may be offered. Requests received in less than five business days may not be fulfilled. If you are unable to testify at the hearing, written statements are encouraged and will be made a part of the official record.
