Miller Designation Act of 2024,” Bill 25-931, the “Rev. A. Knighton Stanley Way Designation Act of 2024,” Bill 25- 1036, the “Girl Scouts’ Way Designation Act of 2024,” Bill 25-1037, the “DC Legendary Musicians Way Designation Act of 2024,” and Bill 25-1002, the Closing of a Portion of a Public Alley and Dedication of Land for Alley Purposes in Square 756, S.O. 24-00310, Act of 2024.” The hearing will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2024. The stated purpose of Bill 25-852 is to officially designate the public alley system within Square 5755, Lots 830 and 841, located at 1655-1659 W Street, SE, between W Street S.E. and Galen Street, S.E., as East River Alley. The stated purpose of Bill 25-876 is to officially designate 2465 Alabama Avenue, S.E., between Gainesville Street, S.E. and Hartford Street, S.E., as Reverend Dr. Judy Talbert Street. The stated purpose of Bill 25-923 is to symbolically designate T Street, N.W., between 12th Street, N.W. and 13th Street, N.W., as Louise B. Miller Way. The stated purpose of Bill 25-931 is to symbolically designate Iowa Avenue, N.W., between Arkansas Avenue, N.W. and 13th Street, N.W., as Rev. A. Knighton Stanley Way. A Resolution of the Town Council of the Town of Loomis APPROVE authorizing the Town Manager to execute a contract for professional environmental services with Area West Environmental, Inc. to prepare an applicant reimbursable CEQA Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration fort the Quick Quack Car Wash Project (application #20-05) not to exceed $60,540. BUSINESS 7. ADOPT AN OAK TREE /OAK TREE PRUNING GRANT PROGRAM The Adopt an Oak Tree and Oak Tree Pruning Grant programs provide a framework for the Town to spend down the Tree Mitigation Fund that better targets oak trees. As opposed to past expenditures that were used for pruning of all trees in the public right of way. Through these programs, the Town can take a decisive step to proactively expand and professionally maintain its native oak tree canopy, while including Loomis residents in the process. Both programs are an opportunity to promote a healthy tree canopy needed for community enjoyment, and a vibrant, functioning ecosystems, while increasing public safety, wellbeing, and preserving the Town’s rural character. RECOMMENDED ACTION. Staff recommends that the Town Council receive a presentation on proposed Adopt an Oak Tree, and Oak Tree Pruning Grant programs. Following the presentation, staff recommends that the Town Council provide feedback and adopt a resolution authorizing staff to launch the program. PUBLIC COMMENT 3/7/2024 10:19 AM 2
