COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20004 CHAIRMAN PHIL MENDELSON COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE ANNOUNCES A PUBLIC HEARING On PR 26-23, “Public Charter School Board Shantelle Wright Confirmation Resolution of 2025” on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. (or immediately following the preceding hearing) Council Chambers Room 412 (Track B) John A. Wilson Building 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue NW DC Council Website (www.dccouncil.gov) Council Chairman Phil Mendelson announces a public hearing before the Committee of the Whole on PR 26-23, “Public Charter School Board Shantelle Wright Confirmation Resolution of 2025.” The hearing will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2025. The stated purpose of PR 26-23 is to confirm the reappointment of Shantelle Wright as a member of the Public Charter School Board (PCSB) for a term to end February 24, 2029. The PCSB is an independent government agency of the District of Columbia led by a volunteer seven-member board. As the sole public charter school authorizer in our nation’s capital, the PCSB provides oversight to public charter schools which are managed by independently run nonprofit organizations called local education agencies. The purpose of this hearing is to receive testimony from government and public witnesses regarding PR 26-23 and the fitness of the nominee for reappointment. Those who wish to testify must register using the Council’s Hearing Management System at https://lims.dccouncil.gov/hearings by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4, 2025. Testimony is limited to four minutes. Witnesses who anticipate needing spoken language interpretation, or require sign language interpretation, are requested to inform the Committee office of the need as soon as possible but no later than five business days before the proceeding by emailing cow@dccouncil.gov. We will make every effort to fulfill timely requests, although alternatives may be offered. Requests received in less than five business days may not be fulfilled. Witnesses will receive instructions on how to participate by Zoom prior to the hearing.
