Fire Commission Meeting Minutes
November 28 , 2023
Present: Janice Piper, Bonnie Schauer, Ken Thiede, Michael Robertson, Jennifer Denton
(arrived 20 min late)
Also present: Rachel Ladewig, Chief Kevin Hafemann
Piper called the meeting to order at 5:02 pm.
Reading and Approval of Minutes: Motion by Schauer, second by Robertson to approve the 8-
14-23 Fire Commission Minutes. All aye. Motion carried.
Closed Session :
Motion by Schauer, second by Thiede to adjourn into closed session for the purposes of
considering Fire & EMS staff hiring and firing business at 5:15 pm. All Aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Thiede, second by Schauer to reconvene into open session at 6:11 pm. All aye.
Motion carried.
Open Session:
Regarding the employment application for Daniel Krause, Bren Nimke and Patrick Dillon:
Thiede motioned and Denton seconded to add the applicants to the eligibility list. All aye.
Motion carried.
Chief Hafeman stated his intent to hire Daniel Krause, Bren Nimke and Patrick Dillon as a Part-
Time Firefighter or EMT.
Schauer moved and Denton seconded accept the Chief’s recommendation to approve the
hiring of Daniel Krause, Bren Nimke and Patrick Dillon as a Part-Time Firefighter or EMT. All
Aye. Motion carried.
Denton motioned and Schauer seconded to adjourn at 6:15 p.m. All aye. Motion carried.

Roll Call: Denton, Piper, Thiede, Schauer, Robertson
Reading and Approval of Minutes:
1. Review and act on 8-14-2023 meeting minutes.
2. Discussion on regularly scheduled meetings (2nd Tuesday), and unscheduled meetings
Closed Session
3. The meeting will adjourn into Closed Session for the purpose of considering employment in the Fire
and Rescue department in accordance with 19.85(1)(c).
Reconvene into Open Session
4. Review and act on employment for the department.
