Call To Order And Roll Call A 4/23/2024 - Minutes R Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the regular meeting of the Watertown City Council was called to order in the Council Chambers of City hall at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, by Mayor Mike Walters. Open Forum Chief Tom Hanson gave an update on call volume. Currently, as of today, we are at 201 calls for service, 26 of those are fire related, 173 medical calls, and two rescue calls since the beginning of the year. Chief Hanson also reported they are looking for ways of recruiting and retention of firefighters. Some things T they are looking at is lowering the hiring age to 18 to maybe attract some people as they come out of high school. This is more in line with other surrounding communities. We are also looking at retention bonuses or advancement bonuses, kind of like a signing bonus. Angie Cruzen. introduced herself and is the Executive Director of Gather and Grow Food Shelf. We have F been in Waconia for over 20 years and we just assumed operations here at the Watertown site. We just have been really humbled and grateful for the welcoming that Watertown has given us. Angie gave a brief overview of their operation and looking to offer new services and new varieties. Angie also mentioned she is looking to build volunteers, and anyone interested can go to their website and designate to help at Watertown or Waconia. A 5. New/Old Business 5.A. 5A - Tuscany Lift Station Generator R Public Utilities Superintendent Doug Kammerer updated the council that staff solicited quotes from Kodiak Systems and Midwest Electric for the Tuscany lift station generator. I am asking permission for purchasing the generator from Kodiak Systems for $35,993. COUNCILMEMBER MCGUIRE MOVED TO ADOPT RESOLUTION 2024-17 APPROVING THE LOW QUOTE FOR THE TUSCANY VILLAGE LIFT STATION. D COUNCILMEMBER PAWELK SECONDED. MOTION CARRED 4-0. 5.B. 5B - 2024 Pavement Maintenance Projects Public Services Director Mike Dressel presented the 2024 Pavement Maintenance Projects. COUNCILMEMBER MCGUIRE MOVED TO ADOPT RESOLUTION 2024-16 AWARDING THE LOW QUOTES FOR CRACK SEALING AND BIO-SEALER/REPLAY AND ASPHALT GRAPHICS. COUNCILMEMBER THUL SECONDED. MOTION CARRIED 4-0. 6. Other Reports Councilmember Pawelk noted the Park Board meeting last Wednesday. We had some really good discussion on a number of topics, including doing a survey, and mentioned there are quite a few plans like the trail plan, community park development plan, and just the overall city 2040 Comp Plan. There is a lot of information in there that maybe there isn't a need right now to procure some information from residents, being there is all these documents in their hands, and in the city's hands to at least start with. Councilmember Thul reported that they are still accepting the Commission on Aging surveys until May 1. We have gotten a lot of feedback and quite a few surveys back. Good to have the information. 7.
