City of Watseka 201 Brianna Dr PO Box 338 Watseka IL 60970 CODE ENFORCEMENT COMMITTEE MEETING MAY 12TH, 2026 6:41 PM PRESENT: Aldermen Dewitt, Muench, Barragree, Miller, Petersen, Pence, Alderwoman Rohlfs, and Mayor Marcier ABSENT: Alderman Brault Alderman Dewitt opened the meeting at 6:41 pm. There was no public comment. Alderman Dewitt gave the report for Eric Brandt Building Inspector. The following was discussed: IDNR Flood Mitigation: 432 N 2nd has been demolished, site restoration and grass seeding needs to be finished. There are 3 contracts accepted and in the closing process with a closing scheduled for May 21st. HMPG 4461: 811 W Franklin, 303 W Park, 509 E Oak and 607 N Market have been demolished and site restoration and grass seeding needs to be finished. IEMA is working on a 1-year extension. The original expiration date is June 18th. Closing for 604 N Chicago is scheduled for May 15th. Phase 22 demolition bids will need to have a special called council meeting on May 19th to have this completed by the June 18th grant deadline. 4 properties still need appraisals done. There are 3 owners that do not want to participate. Nettie Davis: Asbestos removal and final asbestos removal inspection is complete. Still waiting on state signatures of intergovernmental agreement amendment #1 to move forward with the acquisition of the property. 809 W Lafayette: Eric has a verbal offer of $5,000 from the adjoining property owner to purchase the property from the city. After a short discussion Alderman Miller makes a motion to recommend to the council to accept the $5,000 offer from the adjoining property owner for the purchase of 809 W Lafayette and Alderwoman Rohlfs seconded. Roll call carried 8-0. Phase XXII Flood Mitigation Demolition Bids: 1 bid received from Lee Excavating for $28,800 for 604 N Chicago and 519 E Ash St. Alderwoman Rohlfs makes a motion to recommend to the council to accept the bid from Lee Excavating for $28,800 and Alderman Pence seconded. Roll call carried 8-0. 417 E Walnut St: A large tree fell on this house from the recent storm. The property is in an estate; the real estate taxes are not being paid by the owner/heirs and there has been no response from the heirs regarding the clean-up. A written notice was mailed to the last known address of the owner, with a 10-day notice to remove or the city will remove at city’s expense and file a lien against the property for the tree removal. The committee is ok with the tree removal. Alderman Petersen stated Conxxus is in town fixing some of the problems but there are still many outstanding. Alderman Muench makes a motion to adjourn at 6:48 pm and Alderwoman Rohfls seconded. Roll call carried 8-0. __________________________________ Charlie Dewitt, Co-Chairman
