City of Watseka 201 Brianna Dr PO Box 338 Watseka IL 60970 CODE ENFORCEMENT COMMITTEE MEETING JUNE 9TH, 2026 6:55 PM PRESENT: Aldermen Brault, Petersen, Pence, Miller, Dewitt, Muench, Barragree, Alderwoman Rohlfs and Mayor Marcier GUESTS: Building Inspector Eric Brandt Alderman Brault opened the meeting at 6:54 pm. There was no public comment. Building Inspector Eric Brandt reported on the following properties: 310 N Market St; the compost pile is still there and now the homeowner that has the compost pile has started a recycling business in her yard and has a dumpster behind her fence. It was stated this is a zoning violation. Code Enforcement Shane Eads tried to talk to her but had no luck. The committee instructed Eric to send her the ordinance and begin issuing her citations. IDNR Flood Mitigation: 6 more demos have been done, and Eric has submitted reimbursements to IDNR for $190,181. Another property has been purchased and will be closing on June 17th. It was stated that all of these expenses are being reimbursed by IDNR there is no taxpayer money being used, and the city will maintain the lots forever. HMPG: Eric has submitted $43,857 for reimbursement, this is a 75/25 grant, but IDNR will be picking up the 25%. Eric is currently working on a 1-year extension, it will expire 6/18/26. Nettie Davis: Nothing new to report, the next step is to purchase the property. 1213 Sugar Creek Ct: This is now the city’s property, it is in the floodway and flood plain so it is an unbuildable lot. Alderman Petersen asked about a line that is down behind 501 E Locust St. Eric will look into this. It was also stated at the corner of 7th and Mulberry the grass needs mowed. 417 E Walnut: Alderman Petersen asked about the status of the house, Eric stated the heirs of the property are not responding to any calls or mail. There was a short discussion concerning the lost mail bills again for the 2nd month in a row. Alderman Dewitt suggested Mayor Marcier get in touch with a State Representative Alderman Rohlfs makes a motion to adjourn at 7:06 pm and Alderman Barragree seconded.
