VILLAGE OF WAUNAKEE Parks and Recreation Committee June 5, 2019 The June 5, 2019 Parks and Recreation Committee meeting was called to order by Phil Willems at 5:32 pm. PRESENT: Phil Willems, Chris Zellner, Gary Herzberg, John Pomeranke, Susan Brown and Bob Khouri. ALSO PRESENT: Sue McDade - Community Services Director, Bill Frederick, Public Works/Parks Superintendent, Rick Moran, Public Works/Parks Supervisor, and Jeff Skoug – Recreation Program Supervisor. Roberta Baumann, Waunakee Tribune. CONSENT AGENDA A motion by Bob Khouri / Gary Herzberg to approve the Consent Agenda which included the following items was approved: - Minutes of the April 3, 2019 Park and Recreation Committee meeting - Permit for Fitness Programming in Tierney Park by Tammy Greiber NEW BUSINESS 1. Introduction of Community Aquatics Facility Exploration Process and Possible Recommendation for Securing Consulting Services The committee discussed investigating the community’s interest in a public aquatics facility. Staff recommended hiring an outside firm to facilitate a community listening session later in the summer. The committee discussed at length and directed staff to work to schedule this event in mid-August. A motion by Susan Brown / John Pomeranke to recommend approval of the proposal for planning services with Ayers Associates was approved. 2. Consider Rescheduling the July Parks and Recreation Committee Meeting The committee members in attendance agreed to re-schedule the July Parks and Recreation Committee to Tuesday, August 9 – 5:30 p.m. 3. Consider Agreement with Reukert-Mielke for Professional Grant Writing Assistance for a 2020 Urban Forestry Grant. A motion by Gary Herzberg / Bob Khouri to recommend approval of an agreement with Ruekert-Mielke for DNR Urban Forestry Grant preparation was approved.
