VILLAGE OF WAUNAKEE Parks and Recreation Committee August 6, 2014 The August 6, 2014 Parks and Recreation Committee meeting was called to order by Gary Herzberg at 5:45 pm. PRESENT: Phil Willems, Gary Herzberg, John Pomeranke, Brian Malich, and Dave Jost. ALSO PRESENT: Sue McDade - Community Services Director, Bill Frederick – Streets and Parks Supervisor, Jeff Skoug – Recreation Supervisor. MINUTES A motion by Phil Willems/Dave Jost to approve the minutes of the June 4, 2014 Park and Recreation Committee meetings was approved. PUBLIC COMMENT There was no public comment NEW BUSINESS 1. Discuss Potential Improvements for Tierney Park The committee met in Tierney Park with developer, Don Tierney. There was general conversation regarding the future use of the addition to the park. The committee members in attendance agreed that open space suitable for open plan such as soccer, lacrosse, football, etc. would be the first proposed use for this park. Don explained that the property was scheduled to be sprayed within the week and then subsequently planted with grass by the end of August. Parking for park users was the primary concern for the committee, as there is no parking allowed along Peaceful Valley Parkway. Don agreed to develop and present a parking plan to staff for review and approval. A motion by Dave Jost/Brian Malich to request that the developer move forward with the construction of a parking lot in the new addition to Tierney Park. The final details of the parking plan will be reviewed and approved by Village Staff. The motion was approved. ADJOURNMENT A motion by Phil Willems/Brian Malich to adjourn was approved.
