VILLAGE OF WAUNAKEE Parks and Recreation Committee May 6, 2015 The May 6, 2015 Parks and Recreation Committee meeting was called to order by Gary Herzberg at 5:45 pm. PRESENT: Phil Willems, Gary Herzberg, John Pomeranke, Dave Jost, Susan Brown and Brian Malich. ALSO PRESENT: Heather Kluck and the members of Junior Girl Scout Troop 2330. Sue McDade - Community Services Director, Bill Frederick, Public Works/Streets Superintendent, Rick Moran – Public Works/Parks Forman, Jeff Skoug – Recreation Supervisor. MINUTES A motion by Phil Willems/John Pomeranke to approve the minutes of the March 4, 2015 Park and Recreation Committee meetings was approved. PUBLIC COMMENT Dennis Heimann appeared on behalf of the Waunafest Committee asking the Park and Recreation Committee to consider paving the access road on the north side of Centennial Park. He explained that as a gravel path it becomes very dusty because of the traffic in and out of the park during their event which causes an issue for the craft show and the antique car show. He suggested that Waunafest might be willing/able to help fund a portion of the project if necessary. PRESENTATIONS Heather Kluck and the girls from Junior Girl Scout Troop 2330 appeared before the committee to ask for permission to install a butterfly garden near the Village Center Pond A motion by Phil Willems/Dave Jost to approve the request from Junior Girl Scout Troop 2330 to plant a butterfly garden near the Village Center Pond was approved. NEW BUSINESS 1. Consider Fitness Programming Permit for Ripp Park A motion by Phil Willems/John Pomeranke to approve the Fitness Programming Permit for Inspire 4 Fitness LLC – Ripp Park – June 1 to September 11, 2015 was approved. 2. Consider Request from Lights Out Softball for a Tournament on August 15 and 16, 2015. A motion by Dave Jost/Phil Willems to approve the request from the Lights Out softball team for a tournament at Centennial Park on August 15 and 16, 2015 was approved. Consider Request from WaunaFest for Park Use and Associated Fee Waiver A motion by Phil Willems/Dave Jost to approve the WaunaFest request for park use and the associated fee waivers for the 2015 event was approved. 4. Consider Contract for Remodeling of Centennial Park Ball Diamond Shelter Restrooms. A motion by Phil Willems/Dave Jost to recommend approval of the Centennial Park Restroom Proposal (3/24/15) from Joe Daniels Company – funding to be allocated from the 2014 Park Capital carry-forward funds was approved. 5. Consider Additional Projects to be Funded Through the Parks PAYG Fund A motion by Phil Willems/Brian Malich to approve the update to the Parks PAYG Project List as presented by staff with the addition of the Hanover Park pedestrian gate (cost not to exceed $1,500) was approved.
