WaunaBoom Meeting Minutes 5/19/26 Tuesday 5:30 P.M. Ripp Park South Shelter Village Center if weather Members: Connie Gavinski, Chris Zellner, Amie Zellner, Julie Zellner, Michelle Johnson, Stacey Ryan, Jade Hofeldt, Alex Schmalz, Courtney Morehart, Cindy Kobza, Ellen Schaaf, Trudi Leder, Jen Schmalz, Kristin Runge – Also present Michael Axon, Angela Hemgarner, Kyle Call to order – 5:40pm 1.Roll Call 2. Public Comments - None 3. Minutes review – Committee reviewed the April Minutes. 4. First Presbyterian Presentation – Angela Hemgarner presented a craft project that they would like to provide during Waunaboom. The fan craft would be a prefabricated fan made of a popsicle stick glued to cardstock. All supplies would be provided by First Presbyterian Church, allowing kids to decorate a fan with markers and stickers. A motion was made by Jen Schmalz, seconded by Trudi Leder, to approve the First Presbyterian Church as a craft vendor at Waunaboom, allowing for two (2) pop-up tents and tables. The pop-up tents and tables will be provided by First Presbyterian Church. Motion carried. 5. Fund Raising efforts - Chris Zellner provided an update on fundraising efforts. The Tasting Room may be sponsoring the “Chamber Beer Tent”. Ellen Schaaf would request that if they sponsor the tent, she would need them to become a Chamber member. 6. 2026 Budget Conversation – Chris Zellner handed out an updated budget sheet. Two Vendors needed to be added: Lincoln Contractors and Two Men and a Truck. The committee reviewed the current budget, currently in good standing. a. A motion was made by Jen Schmalz, seconded by Cindy Kobza, and unanimously approved to add $500 to Cirque du Chan. Motion carried. b. A motion was made by Jen Schmalz, seconded by Trudi Leder, and unanimously approved to add one (1) more tent for Waunaboom from Waunakee Rentals. Motion carried. 7. Committee member reports a. Mike Axon provided an update from the Police Department that they will block traffic at Dorn/5th Street following the fireworks. This will make it so cars can’t turn South on Dorn Street, moving them away from the congestion, which should make it easier for buses. The Black Hawk has been approved pending availability; will know more 3 weeks from the event. They will need a complete schedule of what else will be in the air and when. b. Jen Schmalz will collect ID’s for the people driving the golf carts. c. Alex Schmalz and Stacey Ryan will work on social media posts. 8. Park Logistics The committee discussed moving a few of the vendors and will discuss this in more detail at the next meeting. 9. Power Discussion based on logistics a. Chris Zellner and Alex Schmalz will be meeting with Frederick Electric at Ripp Park on Friday, May 22. 10. Who are we going to honor on the 4th? The committee discussed potential candidates to honor during the celebration. This will be discussed again in June. 11. Adjourn a. A motion was made by Cindy Kobza, seconded by Chris Zellner, and unanimously approved to adjourn the Waunaboom Committee meeting at 7:52 pm. Motion carried.
