Waunakee Area Fire District 401 West Second Street Waunakee, WI 53597-0472 August 2022 Fire District Meeting Minutes August 29, 2022 The Regular Monthly Meeting of the Waunakee Area Fire District was called to order by Chairman Jim Pulvermacher. Roll call showed in attendance: Jim Pulvermacher, Gary Endres, Nila Frye, Phil Willems, Chief Dave Kopp, Lieutenant Josh McWilliams, and Renee Meinholz. Compliance with Open Meeting Laws: Chairperson asked ifwe were compliant with Open Meeting Laws, and it was determined that we were. Meeting Minutes: A motion was made by Nila Frye and a second was made by Phil Willems to approve the July 2022 Meeting Minutes. Motion Carried. Bills: A motion was made by Phil Willems and a second was made by Gary Endres to approve the July 2022 bills as presented. Motion carried. Old Business: A. Recruitment - Chief Kopp informed the board that we are still putting together recruitment information. There may be a firefighter tax exemption bill being brought to the senate. This bill was shot down last year. B. Call Volume - Chief Kopp explained that 31% of this year's calls are to assist the EMS. The FD is looking at all possibilities to increase the members response, including duty crews. Nila Frye asked about billing for services. C. Citizens Academy- There are 11 community members that will be going through the classes. Chief Kopp recommended the class to the board members. New Business: A. Truck Replacement- Chief Kopp informed the board that according to Reliant Fire Apparatus, it will take roughly 3 years for Pierce to complete the build on a new squad truck. B. 2023 Budget- It was discussed that the truck replacement amounts need to be raised due to the increased cost of the apparatus. The truck schedule will be adjusted for future reference. Gary Endres asked that we investigate rates as to where the district's money is kept. Chief Kopp asked for an additional line item in the 2023 budget to be called incidentals. The budget will be presented at the September meeting. Other Business: None Fire Inspector's Report: Capt/Inspector Adler was not in attendance. Next Meeting: September 26, 2022 @ 6:30pm, at the Waunakee Fire Station. Adjournment: A motion to adjourn was made by Jim Pulvermacher and a second was made Phil Willems. Motion carried.
