John Roessler called the regular meeting of the Waunakee Utilities Commission to order.
Minutes
A motion was made by Shirley Nelson and seconded by Steve Kraus to approve the minutes of the November
28, 2022 Utilities Commission meeting. Motion carried.

The list of bills was reviewed. A motion was made by Paul Endres and seconded by Chris Zellner to approve

Public Comment
There was no public comment.
Performance Issues with Lift Station Pumps
The Commission was provided an update about recurring pump failures at the Ashlawn Lift Station and the
communication efforts planned to try to keep customers from discarding items into the system that should not
be.
Change to Clothing Allowance
The Commission discussed a staff recommendation to increase the annual clothing allowance to $300 since the
current $225 amount has not increased since 2011.
After a discussion, a motion was made by Shirley Nelson and seconded by Steve Kraus to increase the clothing
allowance to $300. Motion carried.
2023 Utility Commission Meeting Schedule
The 2023 meeting schedule was presented.
Village-Wide Construction Projects
The Commission was provided an update on various projects planned in the service territory.
Operations Report
The Commission was provided an update on various operational matters, including the removal of several poles
and overhead wires on Highway 19 and the status of the Heritage Hills multi-family project.

General Manager’s Report
The General Manger provided an update on various operational items including another delay in the delivery of
the new digger derrick and the preliminary audit work recently completed.
Financial Statements
The financial statements were presented.
Employee Wage Adjustments and Manager Performance Evaluation
The Commission reviewed a variety of salary data including various benchmark information.
After a discussion, a motion was made by Chris Zellner and seconded by John Roessler to approve wage
adjustments as discussed for all staff except the General Manager. Motion carried.
After a discussion, a motion was made by Shirley Nelson and seconded by Steve Kraus to approve a wage
adjustment for the General Manager as discussed. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Chris Zellner and seconded by Steve Kraus to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried.

jurisdiction or exercised responsibility. In the event the Waunakee Utilities Commission goes into closed
session for the item(s) noted above, the Commission may reconvene again in open session to complete
its agenda and may take action with respect to any matter(s) discussed in closed session.

taken by the Village Board at this meeting.
