Approval of minutes of the October 26, 2023, regular meeting 24-0117 RESULT: APPROVED MOVER: Jamie Swisher SECONDER: Sara Leonhardt NEW BUSINESS 1. Current Assignments 24-0118 RESULT: INFORMATIONAL ONLY 2. Discuss and finalize 2024 parade route 24-0090 A. Chief MacGillis shared the Police Department’s recommendation to use the 2023 parade route due to security concerns and staffing shortages. Discussion was had and a motion was made by Dan Lofy and seconded by Pat Premetz to use the 2023 route. Motion passed. Commission members discussed set up problems at Hoyt Pool and Sgt. Morrill brought up staging suggestions. Tabled to February meeting. RESULT: APPROVED MOVER: Dan Lofy SECONDER: Pat Premetz 3. Discuss and finalize date for the firework program 24-0091 A. After discussion regarding security and staffing issues with the police department, it was determined there cannot be fireworks on the 4th of July. Melissa Dolan made a motion to partner with Tosa Tonight on August 7 for a Civic Celebration sponsored concert in the Rotary Stage with fireworks to follow. This will complement the already planned Tosa’s Night Out. Motion seconded by Jamie Swisher. Motion passed. Melissa Dolan made a motion to have a rain date for the same the following Wednesday. Dan Lofy seconded the motion. Motion passed. Tosa Tonight will go forward with an already contracted performance on the Rotary Stage on July 4 without fireworks. Discuss the 2024 parade theme 24-0092 A. Dan Lofy suggested “Honoring our first responders” as our 2024 theme, along with ideas for units to invite.
