Approval of minutes of the March 28, 2024, regular meeting 24-0577 RESULT: APPROVED MOVER: Sara Leonhardt SECONDER: Dan Lofy DIRECTORS REPORTS Page 1 of 3 Civic Celebration Commission Meeting Minutes - Final April 25, 2024 1. Current assignments 24-0600 RESULT: INFORMATIONAL ONLY 2. The Citizens with Disabilities of Wauwatosa update 24-0592 · The Commission for Persons with Disabilities got approval to allow persons with disabilities to use the parking lot located at 92nd Street and North Ave for the Fourth of July parade. They will work with PD and DPW to block off the area and put up signage. The area for people with sensory issues will be located at 80th Street-81st Street and North Ave. The area will be designated as a “Quiet Zone.” Brit will make up a flyer to hand out to parade participants before the parade starts letting them know the about the “Quiet Zone” RESULT: INFORMATIONAL ONLY 3. Tosa Community Fair on June 15, 2024, update 24-0593 · Tosa Community Fair is on June 15th at Tosa West from 12pm-4pm, located on the first floor RESULT: INFORMATIONAL ONLY 4. Memorial Day update 24-0594 · The program will start at 9am at Hart Park. The music is secured. Boy Scouts will be present. Coffee and ice cream will be served. There is no place to go if there is rain, so the event will be cancelled RESULT: INFORMATIONAL ONLY 5. Fourth of July parade update 24-0595 · There are 43 participants. 40 groups have not responded. Mr. Lofy will call those who have not responded. Mr. Bearden is in charge of contacting elected officials. Mr. Lofy is working on getting hold of “We The People” RESULT: INFORMATIONAL ONLY 6. Fourth of July afternoon program - 2024 location and update 24-0596 · The program will be from 12pm-3pm at City Hall in the parking lot. If there is rain, it will be held in the lower level of City Hall. Balloon Man and Esprit Poms will be present. Ice ream will be served RESULT: INFORMATIONAL ONLY 7. Fireworks program - August 7, 2024, update 24-0597 · The committee was informed that the money from Tourism and Betterment is not available as the fireworks are now scheduled for August 7th. Ms. Dolan and Mr. Morgan will be contacting the city to see whether we have those funds available to use for fireworks. The fireworks company will be coming to the May meeting to do a presentation on fireworks RESULT: INFORMATIONAL ONLY 8. Remaining Directors reports 24-0598 · Treasurer’s report - Funds are no longer available for fireworks, as they Page 2 of 3 Civic Celebration Commission Meeting Minutes - Final April 25, 2024 are not being held on the Fourth of July. The money that is usually given for the fireworks is from Tourism and Betterment. Since the fireworks on August 7th will not bring people who will stay in hotels, the money is not available · Floats - One sponsor, Froedtert, requires a float. A second float will be provided to advertise the fireworks on August 7th as well as promote National Night Out · Fundraising - Penzey’s will be donating $2500 RESULT: INFORMATIONAL ONLY 9. · Future agenda items for next meeting 24-0599 · Presentation from Spielbauer Fireworks Company · Fireworks update from City Officials · Tosa Community Fair update RESULT: INFORMATIONAL ONLY ADJOURNMENT Meeting adjourned at 8:16 P.M.
