Approve the February 19, 2024 Meeting Minutes 24-0448 Approval of February 2024 minutes were deferred to April 2024 meeting . UNFINISHED BUSINESS FROM FEBRUARY MEETING Group had a discussion of 2024 priorities, need for subcommittees, and volunteers needed for scheduled community outreach events. NEW BUSINESS Group had a discussion of property tax relief programs for seniors that we will be keeping an eye on . 1. Property Tax Deferral Program 24-0451 WAUWATOSA HEALTH DEPARTMENT REPORTS Page 1 of 2 Senior Commission Meeting Minutes March 18, 2024 1. Eras Neighborhood Outreach 24-0453 No update. 2. Senior Center/Senior Club 24-0454 Hart Park Senior Center is now closed for remodeling. 3. Police Department 24-0472 No update. 4. Health Department and Age-Friendly 24-0466 Kristen provided a list of upcoming Health Department activities. o Social Work support services available Tuesdays, 2-3:30pm from March through August o Tosa Tech Time is booming and appointments are being made two weeks out, Fridays 10am- 1pm o Suicide prevention lecture, “Talk Saves Lives,” May 3rd 1:00pm lower Civic Center room o Narcan training on May 14th 5:30-7pm in lower Civic Center room o Virtual Dementia tour April 30th lower Civic Center room Kristen extended an invite to all Senior Commission members to attend 3-7 pm. o Senior Planet classes will begin May 7th. The health department also received a two-year grant for training, equipment and supplies for the classes. o Aging Advocacy Day May 14 in Madison. Sign up to speak with our legislators. 5. Housing Coalition 24-0467 We will be looking at property tax relief programs. 6. Common Council 24-0464 Work continues on the new Comprehensive Plan. ANNOUNCEMENTS, EVENTS, AND FUTURE TOPICS 1.
