ARTS COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES MEETING DATE: Tuesday February 1, 2022 PLACE: Zoom MEETING CALLED TO ORDER: 8:02 a.m. ROLL CALL PRESENT NAME PRESENT (ARRIVED LATE) ABSENT John Ahearn X Lauren Bakker-Arkema X Marilynne Bradley X Kathie Cahoon X Beth Corelli X Alex Elmestad X Rob Longstreet X Judith Mann X Patrick Murphy X Jan Shapiro ALSO PRESENT Mayor Gerry Welch Deputy City Clerk Jennifer Conrad APPROVAL OF MINUTES A motion was made by Ms. Bradley, seconded by Mr. Murphy, to approve the minutes of November 2, 2021 AYES: AHEARN, BAKKER, BRADLEY, CAHOON, CORELLI, LONGSTREET, MURPHY, SHAPIRO NOES: NONE ABSENT: ELMESTAD, MANN The November 2, 2021 minutes were approved. FY 2023 BUDGET The Commission discussed request for the Fiscal Year 2023 budget. City administration has asked that departments, boards, commissions, etc. scale back budget requests as much as possible. The Commission will finalize their budget request at the March meeting. POETRY MONTH The Commission discussed this year’s Poetry Month. Ms. Bakker stated that the Children’s Poetry Workshop, Garden Café event, and Haiku workshop are events that should be continued. She also suggested trying to do the poetry reading that was canceled in 2021 this year. The Commission discussed possibly working with the library to hold a story time or other event for younger children. Ms. Corelli will work with Ms. Bakker on events. Mr. Ahearn will again assist with posters. MISCELLANEOUS UPDATES It is about time to choose a recipient for the 2022 Lifetime Achievement in the Arts award. Commission members will bring suggestions to the next meeting. The Commission also discussed summer concerts, and the public art information. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business to come before the Commission, the meeting was adjourned at 8:56 a.m.
