Streetscape Update The grant has been awarded. Meetings will start in January or February 2023; construction could start late 2025. Commission Vacancies Two vacancies remain on the Commission. Members have reached out to potential eligible individuals; Bob Hill property owner, a resident within the District on Alma. Commission Member Heidi Butts-Wiegand will reach out to the owner of Lark. Pickleball Tournament Digital Strike plans to hold another Pickleball Tournament on September 30, 2023. 2023 Meeting Schedule The Crossroads Commission will meet on the 3rd Wednesday of the month in 2023. Business Development Commission (BDC) Update • Based on information from the Business Survey and Business Roundtable, the BDC identified business staffing as a high priority need and made their first recommendation to City Council for use of part of the Business Development Fund to establish a Webster Groves Job Board; “Work in Webster.” The job board is free to use by both those looking for work and for those licensed Webster Groves employers looking to hire staff. It is up and running on the City’s website; https://www.webstergrovesmo.gov/673/Work-in-Webster-Groves. • Organized by the BDC, an event titled, Business Bingo, designed to expose the various business districts and neighborhoods will take place on Saturday, October 1st throughout Webster Groves. Page 1 of 2 City/Council Update • The July Business License report is available on the City website. Eanaj Care Home Health LLC is a new business in the Crossroads District at 8730 Big Bend Blvd. • City Council has appointed nine Webster Groves citizens as Commission Members, plus two alternates, to the new Charter Review Commission. • City Council is working thru the pros and cons of potential flood buy-outs (with FEMA assistance) of residential properties that were damaged during the recent major flooding event; potentially 11 homes. • FEMA will be meeting with the City regarding the damage, repair, and clean-up needs to Deer Creek Park; the Webster Groves side of the park.
