NEW BUSINESS:
Future Speaker Series
Erin Shank from the Missouri Department of Conservation has expressed an interest in being a speaker
at the next GSAC sponsored speaker series. This will be held on Monday, October 1st, 7:30 p.m. in
the Scout Rooms of the Recreation Complex. Erin is an urban wildlife biologist and the topic will be
Urban Wildlife. We will follow the same schedule on October 1st as we are this evening: the GSAC
will have a brief meeting at 6:45 p.m. and adjourn to the meeting rooms at 7:00 pm to setup for the
event, which will begin at 7:30 p.m. Further details will be discussed at the September meeting.
Information about Erin Shank's pollinator talk on Oct 1st has been posted at
http://www.deercreekalliance.org/pollinator_talk_2
Tree List Review
Yvonne requested that the GSAC review the list of approved trees and plantings from the City’s
website / tree ordinance and bring any suggested edits to the September meeting. The list is being
updated and input is requested from the GSAC. Discussion will be held at the September meeting.
Tessa suggested that consideration be made to form a group that could be called to “rescue” native
plantings prior to new construction beginning. A lot of native plants are being destroyed and she
would like to see if it would be feasible to try to save some of the plantings.
NEXT MEETING: Monday, September 10th, 7:15 pm at the Recreation Complex.
Please note: this is the second Monday of the month as the first Monday (regular meeting date) is a
holiday.
