Remarks From Visitors: Jamie Hasemeier from the Sustainability Commission joined us again and let us know they would like to partner with us for future projects. Specifically, in the near future, a speaker series about spraying for mosquitos. She has been in discussion with Jean Ponzi about coming and discussing the reasons not to spray for mosquitos. On the other side of that topic, we could have James Sayers from St. Louis County Vector Control come and speak about their spraying process. She was speaking to Tammy at Maypop about having the speaker series there, but we think it may not be large to accommodate the number of people we expect. We are looking into available dates at the Rec Center in June and for the rest of the summer. We were thinking August would be a good time, but Jamie was hoping for some time in June since it is earlier in the mosquito season. Ginger is contacting James Sayers to check his availability. Jean is available anytime. Also, the Sustainability Commission would like to join us in the Community Days Parade. We just need to come up with a common theme/plan of action, as it is coming up fast. Volunteer Projects: Yvonne has lots of projects in the works. If you would like to know dates/places, please email her for that information. May Speaker Series Planning Review: Topic- Tree Care, to be held following this meeting. The commission reviewed what needed to be done and everyone is ready to go. Future Speaker Series Mosquitos: to Spray or Not to Spray? Inquiring Minds Want to Know! (as stated above, in collaboration with the Sustainability Commission) Probably in June, but might be pushed to July or August if there are not any dates we can make work. Bring Conservation Home! Mitch Leachman is the Executive Director of the St. Louis Audubon Society and coordinator of the Bring Conservation Home program. Carrie will contact him to check his availability. New Business: Tree Ordinance Review: Discussion tabled. NEXT MEETING: Due to the vacation of some members, the next meeting will be held on Monday, June 10th, 7:15 p.m. at the Recreation Complex.
