Call to Order (By Carrie Coyne) II. Roll Call III. Minutes of March 1st, 2023 meeting were approved. IV. Visitors Comments: None V. Old Business: A. Secretary schedule:Feb/Mar, Lizz James Apr/May, Linda Green June/August, Sep/Oct, Laura Jordan, Jerry Pinker Nov/December B. Commission to skip meeting in the month of July for a commission break? All agree. C. Trees of Distinction Update: Yvonne is confirming with homeowners that they’ll be home to receive award. Yvonne has ordered plaques. D. Greenspace Advisory and Sustainability commissions subcommittee update. Discussed stormwater master plan. Todd Regh told city council there was an update from Intuition and Logic. City is considering how to pay the $150,000 cost for recommendations/updates. Jamie or Corin will give intro at 4/20 EcoEd series presentation. E. No Mow April update: Lynda had a front page article in Webster Kirkwood Times. No Mow seems to be a successful event. Jenny Starkey will use Corrin’s words from a facebook thread about No Mow April benefits on Webster Groves Friday Post. Carrie Coyne has a list of benefits from Webster U that will be added as well. Jenny Starkey will coordinate sign drop off and send a “Thank You” to participants. F. Arbor Day Celebration Update: Yvonne is sending out sign up. G. April 20th Eco Ed talk: Watershed Awareness: Corrin Pursell will talk about what GSAC is doing. Joe Oeltke will introduce. H. Speaker Series Update: Lynnda Greene provided a handout with the run-down for all the speakers and topics, and it was decided that speakers need to be booked asap. We’d also like to do a “No Mow” month each Fall, so it would be twice a year. Funding was approved for signs, Jerry Pinkner will help get signs printed. Green Space Eco-Ed Talks Spring 2023 (working on new name) January 26- Our Vanishing Night: Light Pollution with Dark Sky- 7pm- Webster Groves Public Library Meeting Room February 16- Ecological Lawn Replacement Options with Chuck Caverly- 7pm- Webster Groves Public Library Meeting Room March 16- “No Mow Month” (April will be the no mow month) with Dr. Gerardo Camilo- 7pm- Webster Groves Public Library Meeting Room April 20- Deer Creek and River Des Peres Watershed Awareness- Stacy Arnold and Danielle Haake (Also WG Arbor Day falls in April) 7pm- Webster Groves Public Library Meeting Room May 25- Missouri River’s and Streamways with Robert Criss- 6pm- Larson Park Pavillion  I. Lynda Passed provided an updated event calendar for GSAC events. Sustainability commission will take over Eco Ed talks starting in November. J. Monarch Pledge: Jerry provided an update. Webster Groves made the “Leadership Circle” meaning we accomplished 8 or more action items as a city. VI. New Business-- A. Carrie Coyne: Walk about event June 22. Discussed in Sustainability GSAC subcommittee group. Ronda Barnett who Authored Conservation Tools for Communities document, will come and present. She will come early and spend the day walking the community to discuss conservation. Maypop will host us. B. Dark skies: Lynda Green and Corin Pursell met with Mr. Ronicker who spoke with GSAC about Dark Skies previously. He suggested approaching the city with ideas in stages. First discussing the concepts with the 4 most affected departments; police, zoning and planning, public works and parks department. Emily Hixson suggested making sure to be in sync with Sustainability Commission on approach and timing/ order of operations. VI. City updates A. GSAC Chair: Joe/Carrie had no further updates. B. Council liaison update: Emily Hixson Shepherd mentioned there are still ARP funds that are yet to be allocated if we want to evaluate what projects we are focused on. C. Yvonne Steingruby: City has applied for a federal 319 grant through the department of natural resources for up to $400,000 (up to $600,000 with City of Webster match of 40%) for work along the riparian corridor, implemented over the period of 3 years! Application is due in July. D. Green Your City event: people can sign up for trees. Deadline for applications will be end of May. Public works will pre-dig holes. Expected planting of 40-50 trees. Workshop for tree stewards of planted trees on July 14. Will be recorded for anyone that cant make it. Plantings will take place October 7th. E. Joe Oeltke: May 7th, Blue to Blue Conservation will help to do a clean up at Lorraine davis, Deer Creek at 10:30. VII. Meeting Adjourned at 6:25 pm  VIII.
