PARKING
• Waiting on final approval from Bethesda on the agreement to turn over the strip of parking spaces behind the
businesses on the north side of Big Bend (North Old Orchard east) as City public parking. Once received, the City
Council will sign off on the agreement and approve the parking ordinance; parking restriction signs will then go up.
• The President of Nerinx Hall, John Gabriel, will pass the information on to the Nerinx student body and their
parents.
• Mara Perry has been in touch with owner of the Einstein’s location to let him know of the coming change.
HOLIDAY PLANNING
• Commission members discussed a potential holiday event in the District. Multiple ideas were put forth:
o Have a similar event as was done last year with activities held in Gazebo Park culminating with a tree
lighting at the end of the day.
o Build on the Santa’s on the Run event that starts early in the morning.
o Have the tree lighting the night before the Santa’s on the Run event.
o Hold a holiday event jointly with Old Webster. Consideration: Old Orchard holds their event with a holiday
tree lighting after Thanksgiving in December while Old Webster holds a holiday open house before
Thanksgiving in November.
• Commission members decided to engage Angela Foley, if she is available, to coordinate an event that is similar to
last year’s event and ask her to come to next month’s meeting.

over to October; the applicants asked for additional time to answer concerns over parking and the height of the
building.
• September Planning Commission will hear multiple requests:
o A home day care on Rock Hill.
o A rezoning request on a lot on Fair Oaks for potential future parking.
o A development at the former Auto Beauty location for a brew pub, rooftop restaurant and event space, a
microbrewery, and office space. This request involves multiple CUP’s and business licenses. A staff report
is available on the City’s website.
