Old Orchard Special Business District Advisory Commission MEETING MINUTES APPROVED MEETING DATE: Tuesday, March 12, 2019 LOCATION: City Hall CALLED TO ORDER: 8:02 AM MEETING ADJOURNED: 8:34 AM NEXT MEETING: Tuesday, April 9, 2019 NAME PRESENT ABSENT Joe Fichter, Chair X Angel Venegoni X Claire Winkler X Mary Jane Armstrong X Holland Saltsman X Robert Weber X John Barr X Steve Zielinski X Vacancy Bud Bellomo, Council Liaison X Mara Perry, City Liaison X Also in attendance: Detective Fred Bell – WGPD Community Resource Officer Fran Sudekum – Administrative Support APPROVAL OF MINUTES Motion to approve the February minutes as was made by Angel Venegoni, seconded by Steve Zielinski, motion was unanimously approved. BUDGET DISCUSSION Mara Perry shared the final budget numbers with Commission members reflecting additional numbers needed as discussed in last month’s meeting; Parks Department minimum wage increase and lampposts banners and baskets. MOTION: Angel Venegoni made a motion to approve the final budget, the motion was seconded by John Barr and unanimously approved: DISTRICT EVENTS • The Gazebo Series organizers have met; Joe Fichter will have an update at the next Commission meeting. • Old Orchard will participate with Old Webster in the Trick or Treat and Cookie Walk events as organized by the Old Webster Trade Association. • The lighting of the holiday tree in Gazebo Park will take place at dusk the same day as the Old Webster Holiday Open House. • Santa’s mailbox will arrive the same day as the Santas on the Loose event put on by the Webster Groves Chamber. The Commission will look at adding other possible holiday-related activities on this day as well. CITY UPDATE • Balkan Treat Box is open. • Blue Dahlia will be opening in a large portion of the former ScholarShop location; medical offices may take over the last portion of that location. • The Rolling Ridge Development is postponed; waiting on their resubmittal. • The project at the former Auto Beauty location is working on acquiring historical tax credits. • The Gerber Chapel building has been demolished, the next step is to level the ground. • Asbestos removal is taking place in the YMCA building. • Group Homes is at its final reading. • The adult day care center is moving from its Crossroads location to a location on Watson Road. • Code changes for ARB and affordable housing are being looked at. • The commercial property next to May Pop will have a commercial photographer on the first floor and live on the second. • Working on the ordinance regarding medical marijuana. Public hearings will be before City Council; state law information is online. NEXT MEETING Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at 8:00 AM – City Hall. ADJOURNED Meeting adjourned at 8:34 AM.
