Old Webster Special Business District Advisory Commission MEETING MINUTES APPROVED MEETING DATE: Tuesday, May 23, 2017 LOCATION: City Hall CALLED TO ORDER: 8:01 AM MEETING ADJOURNED: 8:42 AM NEXT MEETING: Tuesday, June 27, 2017 NAME PRESENT ABSENT Ron Clipp, Chair X Chris Hite X Joe Rath X Stacie Swederska X Morry Cole X Mark Hinkle X Tim Delanty X Micki Hansel X Vacancy Matt Armstrong, Council Liaison X Mara Perry, City Liaison X Also in attendance: Fran Sudekum – Administrative Support APPROVAL OF MINUTES Motion to approve March minutes was made by Joe Rath, seconded by Mark Hinkle, and unanimously approved. Motion to approve April minutes was made by Joe Rath, seconded by Mark Hinkle, and unanimously approved. OLD BUSINESS • Rooftop Lighting – Rooftop lighting on Olive + Oak has been fixed. Next on the list is The Block. Moving further north on Gore; Ron Clipp contacted Bob Peters and Rolling Ridge. Both business want to participate. Mara Perry will get estimates for Dr. Butler’s building on Lockwood, Mr. Peter’s building on Gore, and Rolling Ridge. • Landscaping Projects o The property owner of the strip of concrete on Lockwood near Dewey’s lives off-site. Ron will send him a letter to acquire an easement to create and maintain a perennial bed. o The Parks & Rec Department has started on the new seasonal projects; they’ve started on the pots, others will be following. • Memorial Bench – The father wishing to purchase a memorial bench honoring his son has picked out the location he would like. The District will purchase a plaque no bigger than 7” from District business Loesch Engraving. NEW BUSINESS • St. Louis CVC Membership – It’s time to renew CVC membership. The City purchases a membership. At least 15 individual business memberships at $150 each are needed in order to have a “neighborhood” section and shout outs in the publications and maps. Last year there were 16 businesses that joined/renewed; the more memberships, the more mentions received. Memberships and renewals go to Mara and are due by the end of July. Commission members took several copies of the membership forms to solicit District businesses to join or renew. • Ron Clipp requested an update on District revenue from business licenses. CITY UPDATE • Permits for the Old Webster Jazz Fest and Old Webster Summer Night Street Dance are in. • GO St. Louis Run permits are in. • Webster On Wheels went very well. • The site plan for Orchard Alley is at the Planning Commission. • The short-term rental AirBnB type use zoning was approved. The next step is the licensing piece. • Work continues on the residential amendments. • A landscaping company is going in at the former location of Ryan’s Steakhouse on Watson. • Amendments for various cell towers are before the Planning Commission. ADJOURNED Meeting adjourned at 8:42 AM. NEXT MEETING The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at 8:00 AM – City Hall.
