WELCOME NEW MEMBER The Commission welcomed a newly appointed member; Gary Schoenberger, owner of Webster Groves Garden Café. UPCOMING EVENTS • Special Permits have been received for event in Old Webster: o April 21st – Euclid Records will be holding an event in recognition of Independent Record Store Day. They will close off the alley behind their location on the evening of April 20th until 10 o’clock on the 21st; access to the lower level of the parking garage will still be open. They have also received a temporary liquor license for those standing in the very long lines. o May 6th – The Cinco K Mayo running event will still take place in the early morning without Milagro; they possibly may have their Mission Taco Truck. The route is the same as last year. o May 6th – Webster On Wheels biking event put on by the Webster School District Foundation will be held starting and stopping at Bristol Elementary; no streets will be closed. • Some additional events outside of Old Webster: o April 5th – There will be a ribbon cutting for the new Lawn Care Equipment company on Watson Road; 11:00AM – 1:00PM. o April 28th – The Webster et. al Chamber will hold it’s Fun Fest at the Eden Luhr Library. ROOFTOP LIGHTING • Mara Perry will confer with Stribe Electric on the timing to get this season’s installation and maintenance going. She is now working with them on rooftop lighting projects in all three business districts. • Help from members is needed to coordinate with building owners in Old Webster. Ron Clipp volunteered to handle Robert Peters. • Mara will bring the spreadsheet with the latest status on the project to the April meeting so additional help to coordinate with building owners can be identified. • Robert Peters on Gore and Robert Butler on Lockwood are on the list for the next installation of rooftop lights. • There are many rooftop lights on existing strands that are out throughout the District. • Funds in this budget year are still available and then funds from next year’s budget will be available in July, so we could get quite a bit of work done this season; weather permitting. PARKING • The lights on the parking garage sign aren’t working. • Webster Groves Presbyterian Mood Lot – Mara is working with a new contact at WG Pres who needs to bring the lease proposal to their board. The lot is in need of repair and will require a total fix before the City carry insurance on the lot. The City would repair and restripe the lot as payment for the use of the parking spaces. Snow removal by the City could be included in the lease as a possible incentive; Mara will reach out to the Public Works department regarding snow removal. Leasing several spaces on the Moody lot would solve an immediate every day employee parking problem. • 15-Minutes Parking Spots – Mara will contact the Police Department today to move this forward. CITY UPDATE • A rezoning request, Planned Commercial which is a mixed use, for the former Gerber Chapel location from Cornerstone Realty is before the Planning Commission for 55 apartments geared to older independent residents, 1,000 square feet of retail on the first floor Lockwood side (which is the front/entrance side), 58 parking spaces on-site (some in a lower level accessed from Moody). City Staff is still reviewing; but they have concerns and provided comments to the developer on sufficient parking spaces, fire department access, storm water, and a dead end/no turn around in the lower level parking garage. More Information is anticipated from the developer to make additional amendments to their request. • A home-based daycare business has resubmitted and is before the Planning Commission. • The Frisco Bar Room in Old Orchard hopes to be opening soon. • Have had two hearings on the changes in the commercial use language; the process continues. • MayPop at Marshall and Summit, is moving along. • The B&B at Tuxedo and Bompart will be opening soon; guests will have their own parking under the structure. • Matt Armstrong feels the Council will likely pursue a funding grant to redo the eight tennis courts at Memorial Field. • Barbre Park is set to have storm water issues fixed; working with MSD, a walking trail added, and a sculpture which is paid for by donations. • Things are moving forward with the Deer Creek Trail; a Great Rivers Greenway project. The Webster Groves trail ends at Lorraine Davis Park. ADJOURNED Meeting adjourned at 9:49 AM. NEXT MEETING The next meeting will be held at City Hall on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 from 8:00 AM.
