VISITOR COMMENTS • Hannah Wood – Rolling Ridge Nursery Rolling Ridge has submitted a Special Activities Permit to run several evening events at their location on Thursday evenings April 18th thru May 3rd from 5 to 7PM; “Nights at the Nursery.” They will have a food truck, live music, and an ice cream truck. The trucks and music will be across the street on a portion their gravel parking lot away. Their back/east parking lot will be open and available for parking during the event. The bands are small and mostly local. If all goes well, they plan to hold similar events in the fall and hope to stay open till 8PM. Commission members felt the changes Rolling Ridge made to the geographical logistics of the events this time around would result in a successful event this year and avoid issues with their residential neighbors and hope the events are well received. Mara Perry stated the Public Works and Police Departments have reviewed the permit and do not have any issues. Sergeant Flanery suggested they send a letter to the nearby residents to give them a heads up and explain the changes made to the events. • Sergeant Jason Flanery and Police Office Ahmar Rasool – WGPD Traffic Unit Police Officer Rasool is the new full-time traffic and parking enforcement officer. SPECIAL ACTIVITIES PERMITS • Webster on Wheels is scheduled for the afternoon of May 5th. • Cinco K Mayo run is scheduled for the morning of May 5th. • WG Chamber’s “63119” event is scheduled for April 6th at the Luhr Building on Lockwood. DISTRICT BANNERS • Commission Members reviewed new banner designs for the District; one for spring and one for fall. The designs kept the streetscape motif of the winter and summer banners with changes in the colors to reflect the season. Members liked the designs and the colors. Since the number of colors used affects the pricing, Mara Perry will confirm if the designs will impact the figure put in the budget to cover the new banners; she will also acquire a color swatch for the fall design in order to see firsthand the hue of the orange color. • MOTION: Joe Rath made a motion to approve the use of the proposed spring and fall designs, the motion was seconded by Mark Hinkle and unanimously approved. BDC UPDATE • The BDC has been discussing first-floor long-time commercial vacancies in the business districts and is looking for input from Commission Members on possible ways to address working with property owners to fill those vacancies. CITY UPDATE • Guerrilla Street Food will be opening soon in the former location of Tropical Moose/Crimson Petal in Old Orchard. • The Blue Dahlia, an interior design, furniture, and floral business is moving into the former Scholarshop location in Old Orchard • A new business is going into the former location of HooPLa in Old Webster. • Demolition of the former Gerber Chapel building has taken place. They will do a gravel parking lot in the back for construction parking. • The Rolling Ridge project is currently inactive. • Demolition will start in the next couple of weeks at the former YMCA location. • The adult day care business at Elm and Big Bend in the Crossroads District is moving to the vacant building on Watson next to the Lawn Equipment Company and a medical office from Clayton will take over the space. • A bank is going into the former Massage Envy location which has been vacant for some time. • The Group Home ordinance has been approved. • The ordinance amendment regarding medical marijuana is before City Council. • Home Occupation ordinance amendments are moving forward. • City Council is looking at affordable housing. • Construction drawings for the project at the former Auto Beauty location are in and looking good. • Prop F for Webster Groves Firehouse #2 and Prop E for the Webster Groves School District both passed; movement on those projects will be starting soon.
