VISITOR COMMENTS • Theo Sloan of Solstice Productions has been hired by Nova (an outdoor furniture company for parks and recreational areas) to so some filming to be used in a series of videos to promote their spring line of products. Solstice would like to film on July 29th in front of Yucandu and is requesting a Special Activities Permit for the project. The project should last from approximately 3 to 6 PM. Extras involved in the filming will gather during their wait time at Firenza and Bread Co. Commission members did not see any issues with the request. Permissions from the various businesses affected has already been acquired. WELCOM NEW COMMISSION MEMBER • The Commission welcomed newly appointed member, Bill Newhouse; Shelter Insurance. BUDGET REVIEW Mara Perry provided an updated budget spreadsheet (See Appendix A). • This year’s revenue is matching up to last year’s figures at this time without the additional periodic financial institutional bump. • Trash Services for the District recycling show an increase due to overflow charges. • Operational Equipment is where the rooftop lighting falls. An invoice needs to be sent out which will add to the figures. Page 1of 3 • The repaired pedestrian signs with new business listings should be in place next month. • There are a few outstanding bills for advertising, but it appears there is money that could be moved. • Tim Delanty was requested by several members of the Old Webster Trade Association to bring up with the Commission the possibility to pursue some type of stipend given to businesses that participate in the Treat or Treat and Cookie Walk events. A couple of the businesses get the vast majority of patrons and are spending $300-$400 on the events. It was decided to table the discussion to next year’s budget discussion. MOTION: Joe Rath made a motion to transfer $3K previously approved in next year’s budget for the Jazz Fest to the current budget’s Jazz Fest allocation. Tim Delanty seconded the motion and it was unanimously approved. ROOFTOP LIGHTING • Installations of some of the rooftop lighting has been up for several years now and their maintenance needs have increased a great deal and are incurring increased expense. Options to address maintenance going forward need to be identified. Mara will discuss the issue with Stribe Electric and bring back information to the next meeting. CITY UPDATE • Le Macaron French Pastries will have a public hearing to open a location in the former Scoop Pilates Studio location in Old Webster which has been vacant for some time. This will be the first Missouri location for Le Macaron; they hope to be open in time for the Jazz Fest. • EverLove DayClub’s move to its new location on Watson is complete; they are full. • Blue Dahlia in Old Orchard has finished their construction. • The Old Webster Brew Pub et al. in Old Webster continues their work. • Naked Boot and Shoe has moved out of its Old Orchard location to Chesterfield. A CBD oil business is slated to open in its Old Orchard location. • Construction permits for Regions Bank in Old Webster have been approved. • Permits for Chase Bank in Old Webster have been approved. • Demolition work on the former YMCA building is almost completed. • The Home Occupation ordinance has been held over for additional discussion. • Work continues on changes to the ordinance regarding historic preservation of homes. • Emerson Smith is the new City Council Member filling the seat vacated by Matthew Armstrong’s resignation. • A new Building Commissioner has been hired to replace the recently retired Commissioner. • Old Webster Summer banners should be up before the 4th of July.
