4. Update Report from WGPD
Chief Curtis advised that there was no new business from the Police Department.
Kevin Sombart questioned if there was a way for the PCEB to help spread information regarding how to avoid
car theft and break-ins considering the many that have been reported recently.
Chief Curtis gave a short description of some of the plans that the WGPD is currently researching to help curb
this activity. It was reminded that locking your vehicle, not leaving keys inside of the vehicle, and removing all
valuables from your vehicle is always the easiest way to avoid theft.

A. Katy Miller advised that the Nominating Committee had met and are presenting Lexie O’Brien as the
2023 PCEB Chair and Centron Felder as the Vice Chair. Kevin Sombart motioned to approve the nomination; Dr.
Scott Groesch seconded the motion.

Chief Dale Curtis thanked Katy Miller for her time as Acting Board Chair.
B. Communications subcommittee - Lexie O’Brien presented the following possibilities as a statement of
purpose.
1.The purpose of PCEB is to maintain open lines of communication and help build trust with
everyone who lives, works, studies and plays in our community.
2.Our goal is to understand community concerns about public safety and help open lines of
communication that may literally save lives.
It was discussed that option 2 may be leaning to hyperbolae. Lexie agreed that revisions should be made, and
she will present additional options at a later meeting.
C. Ordinance Compliance Subcommittee- Kevin Sombart and Dr. Scott Groesch presented the marked
ordinance for presentation to City Council by Emerson Smith for corrections.

Kevin reported having gone to the PSD at the New Firehouse
Lexie reported having watched the burning house fire demonstrations and that she spoke to the “gunlock”
participants.
Centron sent a picture in an earlier e-mail of children interacting with a Police motorcycle and gave a brief
account of his interaction.
F. Nametags- The Board discussed the possibility of ordering nametags for events such as PSD at a cost of
$30.00 each. It was further discussed if they could be the “inexpensive” kind. Lexie suggested she will look into
some possible free options and report back.
Emerson Smith gave a brief update of City Council including their Mission, Vision, and Values survey and the
Strategic Planning Board.
6. Adjourn
A motion to adjourn was presented by Paul Deitrich at 7:46 PM, was seconded by Centron Felder. and passed
unanimously. The next meeting was set for January 24th at 6:30 PM prior to adjournment
