CALL TO ORDER Chair Cleveland called the meeting to order at 6:35 pm. Jane Cleveland and Carlos Arellano were present. Robert Bushey, Glen Fleischer, and Annabelle Garrett attended via conference call. Dr. Krisy Lund and Dr. Rachel Eidelman arrived late. Staff present: Michael O'Dell and Ryan Harding. II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE III. REMARKS BY COMMITTEE CHAIR Ms. Cleveland stated the meeting would be a workshop on livestock waste disposal. IV. ADDITIONS/DELETIONS/REORDERING OF AGENDA There were no changes to the agenda. V. WORKSHOP - LIVESTOCK WASTE DISPOSAL Mr. O'Dell and Mr. Harding led a workshop on livestock waste disposal. Topics covered included the issues related to disposal, where the livestock waste is being disposed, how much livestock waste is being generated in Wellington and Palm Beach County, and various disposal methods. They also discussed the number and size of barns in Wellington and the amount of stalls. Mr. O'Dell and Mr. Harding stressed the importance of being able to accurately quantify the livestock waste and find end-users for it, to come up with a long-term plan for disposal. VI. STAFF COMMENTS There were no staff comments. VII. BOARD COMMENTS Dr. Lund stated she received a call from a citizen that did not want to see the Dark Green Trail changed from grass to asphalt millings. Mr. O'Dell replied the village had reevaluated the soil mix around the Dark Green Trail and decided to keep it as a grass surface trail. Mr. O'Dell explained grass is the village's preferred surface. Grass is used in the village wherever it is possible.
