TOWN OF WENTWORTH MINUTES OF THE TOWN COUNCIL MEETING WENTWORTH, NORTH CAROLINA August 6, 2024 7:00 p.m. The regular monthly meeting of the Wentworth Town Council was held on Tuesday, August 6th, 2024 at the Wentworth Town Hall at 7:00 p.m. Council Members Present: Mayor Pro Tem Evelyn Conner, Daryl Crowder, Cheryl Moore, Dennis Paschal III Council Members Absent: Mayor Dennis Paschal Jr. A quorum was met. Staff Present: Yvonne Russell, Town Clerk/ Finance Officer Hunter Wilson, Accounting Clerk/ Deputy Clerk Others Present: Ellis Martin, Town Attorney Article I. CALL TO ORDER Mayor Pro Tem Evelyn Conner called the meeting to order. Article II. INVOCATION Councilmember Dennis Paschal III gave the invocation. Article III. APPROVAL OF TOWN COUNCIL AGENDA A. Requests and Petitions of Citizens There were no Requests or Petitions of Citizens. B. Approve/Amend Agenda Mayor Pro Tem Conner made a MOTION, “The agenda stands as written.” Councilmember Paschal seconded the motion. All voted in favor and the motion carried. July 9, 2024 Councilmember Paschal made a MOTION, “The minutes stand approved as written.” Councilmember Cheryl Moore seconded the motion. All voted in favor and the motion carried. Article V. OLD BUSINESS There was no Old Business. Article VI. NEW BUSINESS A. Consideration of Amendment No. 5 to the Grant Project Ordinance for the Construction and Installation of the SCIF Grant Project - Yvonne Russell, Town Clerk & Finance Officer Ms. Russell explained the amendment consisted of adding an additional $500,000 SCIF Grant to Revenues and the recent 1st floor projects for the Wentworth Consolidated School that were approved at the July 6th meeting to Expenditures. Councilmember Paschal made a MOTION, “To approve Amendment No. 5 to the Grant Project Ordinance for the Construction and Installation of the SCIF Grant Project.” Councilmember Moore seconded the motion. All voted in favor and the motion carried. (Note: Amendment No. 5 to the Grant Project Ordinance for the Construction, and Installation of the SCIF Grant Project is herein incorporated and made a part of these minutes.) Consideration of Appointment of Alternate Member to the Wentworth Planning Board & Board of Adjustment 1. Terri Felder – 260 Pine Needles Rd. - Presented by Yvonne Russell, Town Clerk & Finance Officer Ms. Russell informed Council that she explained to the applicant there are no vacancies for regular members on the Planning Board at this time but there are always vacancies for alternate members. Councilmember Paschal made a MOTION, “To appoint Terri Felder to the Planning Board & Board of Adjustment as an alternate member.” Councilmember Daryl Crowder seconded the motion. All voted in favor and the motion carried. Article VII. PUBLIC COMMENTS There were no public comments. Article VIII. ANNOUNCEMENTS Mayor Pro Tem Conner made the following announcements:  The next regular meeting of the Wentworth Planning Board is scheduled for Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at 7:00 pm at the Wentworth Town Hall.  The next regular meeting of the Wentworth Town Council is scheduled for Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at 7:00 pm at the Wentworth Town Hall.  The Wentworth Town Hall will be closed Monday, September 2, 2024 in observance of Labor Day. Article IX. ADJOURN Mayor Pro Tem Conner made a MOTION, “To adjourn.” Councilmember Crowder seconded the motion. All voted in favor and the motion carried.
