CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Ms. Patricia Wikenhauser at 3:53 p.m. B. APPROVAL OF MINUTES This matter was Approved 1. 19-0074 Minutes (draft) of the meeting of November 26, 2018. MATTERS FOR DISCUSSION/ACTION 2. 19-0042 Correspondence and/or Communication Correspondence and/or Communication: Milwaukee County Department on Aging, MCDA, contracted with the new agency, Serving Older Adults, SOA. SOA is now running the County-owned Senior Centers and their dining sites. MCDA also hired Susan Yee, formally from Unison, to temporarily run the remaining 13 independent senior dining sites, including the site at our senior center. In January, the Neighborhood Outreach Program directors gathered with their employees and voted to give Unison 45 days to get its reports and financials in order. Patricia Wikenhauser, Advisory Committee member for West Central NOP said that Unison is down to 52 employees from its original 300. She also announced that Tammy Herro, West Central NOP has resigned during this turmoil. This matter was Discussed 3. 19-0043 Discussion of Strategic Planning for West Allis Senior Center Discussion of Strategic Planning for West Allis Senior Center: Marilyn Matter and Denise met about the Memory Café. Denise contacted Mike Koszalka, West Allis Library Director to see if the Library was interested in partnering with the Senior Center and Health Department on the Memory Café. Denise also mentioned that Richland Senior Center has a Memory Café and she’ll contact them for more information on their programs/activities. This matter was Discussed 4. 19-0044 Report on Community Projects · Stockbox Program Update · Interfaith West Central & Resource Center Stockbox Program Update: December - 123 + 20 Holiday boxes, January 109, February 112 This matter was Discussed 5. 19-0045 Discussion of My Senior Center - Program The Senior Center received the monitor, scanner and web camera. We are waiting on the wall-mount for the kiosk. Our “go live” date is scheduled for Monday, April 8. Denise spoke Beth at MCDA regarding the statistical information used for the Senior Dining Program. She’s waiting to hear back to see if the program can help with those statistics. This matter was Discussed 6. 19-0046 Discussion of West Allis Senior Center Logo/Name Discussion ensued. Denise commented that “Center for Active Living” was a name used by other senior centers throughout in the country including Mahaffey, PA; Worthington, MN; Plymouth, MA; Winchester, VA to name a few. This matter was Discussed 7. 19-0047 Discussion of Stove Stove is arriving Wednesday, February 27 from the Department on Aging. Have 3 electrical proposals to send to DPW. This matter was Discussed 8. 19-0096 Discussion of West Allis Senior Center exterior sign See above This matter was Discussed 9. 19-0097 Discussion of changing lower level men’s room to a single use restroom Discussion ensued. The concensus of the Commission was in support of making the change. This matter was Discussed 10. 19-0098 Discussion relative to installing additional security cameras at the West Allis Senior Center Sally sent a wish list to the city’s IT Department requesting 3 additional new cameras for the Senior Center. This matter was Discussed E. ADJOURNMENT The meeting adjourned at 5:05 p.m. with the next scheduled meeting to be held on March 25, 2019.
