CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Ms. Patricia Wikenhauser at 3:53 p.m. B. ROLL CALL Present 6- Ms. Margee Maydak, Ms. Shannon O'Hara, Mr. David Rymaszewski, Ms. Judith Schmidt, Ms. Patricia Wikenhauser, and Mr. John Zentgraf Excused 2- Ms. Deborah Tiegs, and Ms. Linda Timm Others Present: Sally Nusslock, Denise Koenig, Sharon Roy C. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1. 19-0186 Minutes (draft) of the meeting of February 25, 2019. Attachments: Commission on Aging Minutes 2-25-19 A motion was made by Ms. Maydak, seconded by Mr. Rymaszewski, that this matter be Approved as amended. The motion carried unanimously. D. MATTERS FOR DISCUSSION/ACTION 2. 19-0187 Correspondence and/or Communication Milwaukee County board hired Serving Older Adults, SOA. Milwaukee Christian Center is now the organization in charge of the independent Senior Dining Program. RSVP is still working with the State to secure a program State, Federal, Bader Foundation, and United Way. ERAS Senior Network has committed to coordinating the NOP, Neighborhood Outreach Program, through June 30, 2019. They will provide staffing, phones, computers, umbrella insurance and basic expenses to run the program. In the meantime, Milwaukee County Department on Aging, Bader Foundation and United Way are working to come up with a permanent solution. Dave Rymaszewski thanked the Commission for the get well cards that were sent to him and his wife Jody. One training included office volunteers. We’re still on target to go ‘live’ on Monday, April 8. The MSC program does have issues with our traditional September membership renewal date. A discussion to change this will be added to next months agenda. This matter was Discussed 6. 19-0191 Discussion of Purchase of 2 sewing machines Discussion ensued. A motion was made by from Dave Rymaszewski to approve the purchase of two sewing machines not to exceed $1,200 for use in the Fiber Arts room from the Quilting Class account. This matter was Approved 7. 19-0192 Discussion of Stove Staff reported that the donated stove arrived in February; however we’re still waiting for the electrical hook-up to be installed. Staff submitted three contractor quotes to Building & Sign staff. Denise followed up with the work order and was told by Building & Sign staff that Mike Romans from BINS was contacted for his input on this project. Denise will follow up directly with Building Inspection. This matter was Discussed 8. 19-0193 Discussion of changing lower level men’s room to a single use restroom The City’s Attorneys approved the change and Building Inspection did not see any problems other than not having two single use restrooms on that floor. Senior Center staff reported that our current membership is 62% female and 38% male. Discussion ensued regarding signage for the restroom. The commissioners asked to have it handicap accessible, unisex and male/female drawings. This matter was Discussed 9. 19-0194 Staff Report Commissioners were notified of all the upcoming programs and trainings. This matter was Discussed E. ADJOURNMENT The meeting adjourned at 5:05 p.m. with the next scheduled meeting to be held on April 22, 2019.
