City of West Allis Meeting Minutes Commission on Aging Monday, May 24, 2021 3:45 PM Senior Center 7001 W. National Ave. REGULAR MEETING A. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Commissioner Wikenhauser at 3:45 p.m. B. ROLL CALL Present 7- Ms. Margee Maydak, Mr. David Rymaszewski, Ms. Deborah Tiegs, Ms. Linda Timm, Ms. Patricia Wikenhauser, Mr. John Zentgraf, and Ms. Diane Langford Excused 1- Ms. Heather Uzowulu Others present: Ashley Palen, Marilyn Matter, Peggy Pipia, Denise Koenig, Sharon Roy C. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 21-0215 Minutes (draft) of the meeting of April 26, 2021 Attachments: Commission on Aging Minutes 4-26-2021 A motion was made by Commissioner Rymaszyski, seconded by Commissioner Zentgraf to approve the minutes of the meeting of April 26, 2021. D. MATTERS FOR DISCUSSION/ACTION 21-0216 Correspondence and Communication: Milwaukee County Department on Aging is distributing surveys regarding Senior Dining preferences. West Allis/West Milwaukee Park and Recreation dropped off a flyer “Young at Heart” which included bus trips, various leagues at a fee. 21-0217 Senior Center Re-opening: The Senior Center is slowly opening. The volunteers and members are responsible for sanitizing before and after use in the fitness and computer rooms. Restarting Knit and Crochet, Stained Glass, and Tuesday craft classes in June. Toenail Trimmers will be coming on the even months by appointment only. 21-0218 Discussion of Strategic Planning for West Allis Commission on Aging and Municipal Code 2.455 revisions: A motion was made by Commissioner Timm and seconded by Commissioner Tiegs to advance changes identified in the Municipal Code 2.455 to the City of West Allis attorney’s office by June 1st. 21-0214 Discussion on West Allis Senior Center Staffing: Positions will be reclassified at the Senior Center. City of West Allis Page 1 Printed on 11/1/2021 Commission on Aging Meeting Minutes May 24, 2021 21-0219 Report on the Mayor’s Senior Services Working Group with Commission on Aging members Patricia Wikenhauser and John Zentgraf: Patricia Wikenhauser and John Zentgraf. Commissioner Wikenhauser reported the financial limitations of the City; levy limits, facility repairs, overview of the finances of the City. Commissioner Zentgraf relayed the first plan included combining with the Health Department or Library or both. 21-0220 Report on Community Projects: Stockbox Program Update - April 25 extras included: 5 lb pork patties, 3 pkgs shredded cheese, 2 dz eggs, case of OJ, split peas, milk. May 270 extras included: frozen chicken patties, case of peaches, beef stew, milk Eras Senior Network - technical issues will get a report next month. 21-0221 Staff Report: E. ADJOURNMENT The meeting adjourned at 5:15 p.m. with the next scheduled meeting to be held on June 28, 2021. All meetings of the {bdName} are public meetings. In order for the general public to make comments at the committee meetings, the individual(s) must be scheduled (as an appearance) with the chair of the committee or the appropriate staff contact; otherwise, the meeting of the committee is a working session for the committee itself, and discussion by those in attendance is limited to committee members, the mayor, other alderpersons, staff and others that may be a party to the matter being discussed.
