PUBLIC HEARINGS 1. 2005-0177 On the 2004-2005 Class B Tavern License appl. no. 135 of Fujiyama, LLC, Ren Feng, Agent, d/b/a Fujiyama Sushi & Hibachi, for premises located at 2912-20 S. 108 St. (new-nonexisting location) in regards to exceeding the quota. Explanation of the proposed license by Paul Ziehler, City Administrative Officer, Clerk/Treasurer. Appearance: Beryl Hsiang, architect, represented the business and commented on the hours of operation. She indicated that the family-oriented upscale restaurant would be unique to West Allis and the market, plus centrally located. The restaurant will offer Japanese cuisine with fresh cooking, including sushi and hibachi, and that cocktails are needed. The restaurant would economically impact the community. 2. 2005-0083 Special use application to establish a bartending academy/school within the existing multi-tenant commercial property located at 8626 W. National Ave. (Tax Key number 478-9994-001). Explanation of the proposed special use by John Stibal, Director of Development. Appearances: None. E. CITIZEN PARTICIPATION Appearances: Brian Preiss, Executive Director, Downtown West Allis Business Improvement District and Downtown West Allis, Inc., 7231 W. Greenfield Ave., provided a status update regarding the downtown including awning, sign and façade changes. Carl Knight, 2867 S. 96 St., opposed adult-oriented establishments. Michaeljon Murphy, 349 Joris Ave., Waukesha, commented on adult-oriented establishments, and thanked the City for the change in the ordinance adding regulations. He mentioned the operator permit applications that were held at the License & Health Committee. F. ANNOUNCEMENT OF RECESS MEETINGS OF STANDING COMMITTEES Mayor Bell announced that the following Committees would meet during recess: Administration & Finance, Public Works, Safety & Development, License & Health, and Advisory. G. MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS Mayor's Report Public Events: Read to two school Classes. Attended two Dare Graduations. Attended a mentoring lunch for young women sponsored by the Lieutenant Governor. Did a radio program regarding the Library MCFLS debate. Attended one ground breaking and one grand opening. Attended the Award Ceremony for our police officer that solved the murder case in Chicago. Lead a Boy Scout City Hall tour. Attended two retirement parties of City employees. Attended the WACCC Annual meeting. Recorded an interview for a TV program in Mayville, Wisconsin regarding problems facing municipal governments. Announcements: We are excited that the Western Days Parade will be held on June 16th due to the generosity of Todd Reardon of the Braeger dealership in Milwaukee. We have received notice of a possible wagon for the Alderpersons. I am requesting a count of the Alderpersons that wish to ride in the parade by this Friday. If there is not enough to merit the ordering of the wagon there will be no participation by the Alderpersons in the parade. Alderpersons Comments Ald. Weigel commented on the recognition of the police department's involvement in helping to solve the Chicago Lefkow case. Also, he announced a neighborhood meeting scheduled for April 7th at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall regarding the proposed gas station and convenience store at 84th and Becher. H.
