City of West Allis Meeting Minutes Library Board Wednesday, January 26, 2022 7:00 PM West Allis Public Library 7421 W. National Ave. A. Call to Order Ms. Suelzer called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. B. Roll Call Present 5- Gloria Dohearty, Barbara Hart, Jody Rymaszewski, Elizabeth Suelzer, and Ray Turner Excused 4- Kari Southern, Michelle Wadewitz, Angelito Tenorio, and Adam Hengel Others present: Rebecca Grill, City Administrator Staff present: Michael Koszalka, Library Director, and Lisa VandenBoom, Library Manager C. Approval of Minutes 1. Library Board Meeting Minutes December 1, 2021 Attachments: Library Board Meeting Minutes December 1, 2021 Ms. Hart moved to approve the December 1, 2021 Library Board meeting minutes as written. Second by Mr. Turner. Motion approved. D. Statements by Citizens None. E. Correspondence Greater Milwaukee Foundation December 2021 Communication Attachments: Greater Milwaukee Foundation December 2021 Communciation 2021 Library Use Summary Attachments: 2021 Library Use Summary F. Claims and Finance Report 2. January 2022 Claims and Finance Report Attachments: January 2022 Claims and Finance Report Ms. Hart moved to approve the January 2022 Claims and Finance Report. COVID-19 Update In February the Children's Department will start in person storytime again. 4. City Consolidation Feasibility Study Attachments: Barrientos WA Consolidated City Facility Proposal Rebecca Grill, City Administrator, reported that there is no update, but more information may be available for the February meeting. H. New Business 5. MCFLS Update A Wauwatosa representative, Monica Deluhery, has joined the MCFLS Board. MCFLS will be initiating a Level Up Learning marketing campaign that will spotlight Gale online courses. 6. Statement of Effectiveness for 2021 Library Annual Report Attachments: Statement of Effectiveness for 2021 Annual Report 2021 Statement of Effectiveness-draft Mr. Koszalka was directed to create a statement of effectiveness that will be voted on by the Library Board at the next meeting. 7. Trustee Essentials-Chapter 9-Managing the Library's Money Attachments: Trustee Essentials-Chapter 9-Managing the Library's Money I. Library Director's Report -Steven Piper has been hired as the Library's new part-time Cleaner. He will work evenings Monday though Thursday. -The Library participated in West Allis Winter Week with Night of Hygge II. Around 80 people attended with 36 participating in a storytime. -Sarah Lange, Adult Librarian, has submitted a proposal for the Library to receive a Big Read grant offered through the National Endowment for the Arts. -Emily Rutter, Adult and Circulation Services Supervisor, created a 2021 Library Use Summary Report, included under Correspondence. J. Adjournment There being no further business, Ms. Hart moved to adjourn. Second by Ms. Dohearty. Motion approved.
