City of West Allis Meeting Minutes License and Health Committee Alderperson Gary T. Barczak, Chair Alderperson James W. Sengstock, Vice-Chair Alderpersons: Paul M. Murphy, Lester Trudell, Jr., Vincent Vitale Tuesday, January 7, 2003 7:30 PM West Allis City Hall Room 128 RECESS MEETING A. CALL TO ORDER Chair Barczak called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. B. ROLL CALL Present 5- Barczak, Sengstock, Murphy, Trudell, and Vitale C. NEW AND PREVIOUS MATTERS 1. 2002-0242 Police Department Report involving Night Court, 7127 W. National Ave. (2002-2003 Class B Tavern License no. 114 and Cigarette License no. 132 of Night Court, Inc., Gregory J. Kaiser, Agent, Incident date: December 6, 2002). The License & Health Committee held this item until Attorney Knorr could check on a citation and Mr. Kaiser would only need to be ordered for another appearance, if needed, per the outcome of the citation. 2. 2003-0005 Police Department Report involving Heartbreakers, 9442 W. National Ave. (2002-2003 Class B Tavern License no. 60, Dance Hall License no. 48, Tavern Entertainment License no. 28 and Cigarette License no. 94 of Reeves Entertainment, Ltd., Timothy S. Greve, Agent, Incident date: December 12, 2002). The License & Health Committee held this item for an appearance at their regular meeting of January 28, 2003. 3. 2003-0011 Police Department Report involving Dopp's Bar & Grill, 1022 S. 60 St. (2002-2003 Class B Tavern License no. 122, Dance Hall License no. 87, Instrumental Music License no. 41 and Cigarette License no. 134 of Doppelganger's, Inc., Tammy L. Dopp, Agent, Incident Date: December 24, 2002). A motion was made by Ald. Sengstock, seconded by Ald. Vitale, that this matter be Recommended to be Placed on File. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 5- Barczak, Sengstock, Murphy, Trudell, and Vitale No: 0 4. 2003-0006 2002-2003 Tavern Operator License applications. Application nos. 780, 795-796, 800-805, 811-813, 815-816, and 818-825 be granted, except appl. nos. 805, 812, 815, 819, 820, 822 & 825 be held. Vitale, that this matter be Recommended For Approval. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 5- Barczak, Sengstock, Murphy, Trudell, and Vitale No: 0 5. 2003-0007 2002-2003 Tavern Operator License appl. no. 785 of Debra K. Sol. A motion was made by Ald. Murphy, seconded by Ald. Trudell, that this matter be Recommended For Approval. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 4- Sengstock, Murphy, Trudell, and Vitale No: 1- Barczak 6. 2003-0008 2002-2003 Tavern Operator License appl. no. 789 of Sean R. Witt. A motion was made by Ald. Murphy, seconded by Ald. Trudell, that this matter be Recommended For Approval. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 3- Sengstock, Murphy, and Trudell No: 2- Barczak, and Vitale 7. 2002-0247 2002-2003 Tavern Operator License appl. no. 790 of Jacqueline A. Hilgers. Ms. Hilgers did not appear as ordered or call the Clerk's Office to let them know she could not appear. The License & Health Committee held this item for an appearance at the next meeting. 8. 2003-0010 2003 Taxicab Driver License applications. Appl. nos. 20-26. A motion was made by Ald. Sengstock, seconded by Ald. Vitale, that this matter be Recommended For Approval. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 5- Barczak, Sengstock, Murphy, Trudell, and Vitale No: 0 9. 2003-0019 2002-2003 Special Class B Beer License applications. Appl. no. 22. A motion was made by Ald. Sengstock, seconded by Ald. Vitale, that this matter be Recommended For Approval. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 5- Barczak, Sengstock, Murphy, Trudell, and Vitale No: 0 D. OTHER MATTERS TO COME BEFORE THE COMMITTEE FOR DISCUSSION/ACTION Mr. Ziehler asked the Committee members if they recall anything being discussed at the License & Health Committee recess meeting of July 1, 2002, regarding refunding the license fees to Thomas J. Deppiesse, Agent, for premises at 7211 W. Greenfield Ave., d/b/a Estate Wines International 2002-2003 Class A Liquor License appl. no. 19 of Estate Wines International, Inc (new-nonexisting), submitted June 4, 2002, if the license was not approved. Alderperson Murphy stated that he recalls the discussion about refunding the fee if City of West Allis Page 2 Printed on 9/22/2021 License and Health Committee Meeting Minutes January 7, 2003 the license was not approved. He said the Committee agreed to refund Mr. Deppiesse the $200.00 fee if the license was not approved. E. ADJOURNMENT The meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Paul M.
