Minutes
Mr. Robert Lee, General Manager of the Honda dealership, provided his background, duties, and
responsibilities. Mr. Lee expressed that the proposed automated car wash is intended to enhance
efficiency and reduce water use. He also conveyed the specifications related to the new car wash,
the inclusion of new fixtures in the rest of the building, and the expected staffing and traffic levels.
Mr. Pete Podolak provided his background and professional license information. Mr. Podolak
summarized the proposal, the City's parking regulations, and information related to site access.
Mr. Joe Heisler, Architect, provided his professional background and discussed the overall project.
Mr. Heisler noted the proposed replacement of all plumbing fixtures and also discussed flow rates.
Mr. John Hazard, representing the manufacturer of the car wash module, explained that the
purpose of the automated car wash in this case was both to reduce labor and water use. Mr. Hazard
opined there would be no noise or negative impacts associated with the proposed use.
Mr. Rosenblatt went through the factors the Board may consider and provided closing remarks.
Chair Cramer inquired whether the bay door would be open at all times. The Chair asked if the
applicant had considered the conditions in the staff report. Vice-Chair Berent inquired if hose bibs
had a GPM rate per hose, and how many vehicles would go through the car wash. Board Member
Bonner inquired if the development plans would have to be approved by the City. The applicant's
representatives responded, and City staff confirmed that site plan approval would be required.
Vice-Chair Berent made a motion to approve with the following conditions: 1) Obtain site plan
approval prior to implementation of the car wash; 2} The car wash is not to be used by members
of the public and only for the dealership; 3) Be entirely inside the footprint of the existing
building; and, 4} Have a private sub-meter installed to monitor water usage. Board Member
Bonner seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
Chair Cramer made a motion to adjourn. The Board adjourned at 7:12 PM.
