Depo, Director of Community Planning and Development Meeting Date: December 7, 2022 Subject: HDC Referral: Amy’s Laundry Proposed Addition (271 East Main Street) BACKGROUND The City of Westminster received initial submittal for a Simplified Site Plan of Amy’s Laundry on 5/27/2022 by Amy Doody for a proposed addition to the existing 1-story laundromat. The business is located at 271- 273 East Main Street. PROJECT DESCRIPTION Amy Doody, the (Applicant) is proposing an 1,879 S.F. addition at 19.96’ height to match existing building. Four doors are proposed with two on the eastern side of the addition and two on the southern side. The addition will be attached to the existing building with matching brick façade, painted white, including the brick pattern detail to match the corners of the existing façade. A proposed asphalt shingle roof will also match the existing building. The vinyl siding to be added to the new south facing addition is proposed as light grey. A concrete walkway will surround the perimeter of the new addition from the existing building all the way around to the last doorway on the east side. Lighting will be limited to “under-canopy/eave” fixtures along the south face of the building, and two gooseneck fixtures above the doors along the east face of the building. No new freestanding site lighting is proposed. No additional signage is proposed with this addition. A garden park is proposed at the East Main Street side of the property with the lawn remaining. RECOMMENDATION DCPD Staff recommends the Historic District Commission review the Simplified Site Plan for Amy’s Laundry and the architecture for the proposed addition. ATTACHMENTS 1.
