xz Minutes From Everest Metro Police Commission Meeting July 19, 2017 4:30 PM Meeting was called to order at 4:30 PM by Ed Zagzebski Members Present: Ed Zagzebski ,Gil Holcomb, Mel Podolske, Lisa Krause, Jeff Micholic and Dave Eisenreich. Others Present: Chief Sparks, Captain Dickerson and Captain Schulz Motion by Holcomb with a second by Podolske to approve the minutes from the 4-17-17 meeting. Motion approved. Motion by Krause with second by Holcomb to convene into closed session pursuant to Wis. Stat. 19.85 (1) [c] for the purpose of considering personnel matters; Selection of a new Sergeant to fill the vacancy created by the recent the promotion of Sergeant Dickerson to Captain. Motion approved via roll call vote. Motion by Krause with second by Podolske to reconvene into open session. Motion approved via roll call vote. Following a discussion of the 3 candidates and a review of their scores on the four phases of the promotional testing, a motion was made by Krause with a second by Holcomb to promote John Rusinek to Sergeant effective July 31, 2017. Motion was approved unanimously. Chief Sparks updated the group on the status of the recruitment process for hiring a new officer. Command staff has narrowed the number of candidates to 6 and these are currently going through preliminary background checks and the first phase of the psychological exams. He expects final interviews by the police commission to be completed by the end of August. The Chief and Captains Schulz and Dickerson also commented on the progress of the 3 recently hired officers. All are making good progress in their training and orientation. There being no additional business, a motion was made by Podolske with a second by Micholic to adjourn. Motion approved.
