xz Minutes From Everest Metro Police Commission Meeting December 14, 2017 4:00 PM Meeting was called to order at 4:00 pm by Ed Zagzebski Members Present: Ed Zagzebski, Gil Holcomb, Mel Podolske, Jeff Micholic, Mark Maloney and Dave Eisenreich. Others Present: Chief Sparks, Captain Schulz and Captain Dickerson Motion by Maloney with second by Podolske to convene into closed session pursuant to Wis. Stat. 19.85 (1) [c] for the purpose of considering personnel matters; Interview police officer candidates to fill a vacant position and create an eligibility list; and to discuss a recommendation to fill and name an internal candidate to a captain position that will be vacated when Capt. Schulz is promoted to police chief in March, 2018. Motion approved via roll call vote. Motion by Holcomb with second by Maloney to reconvene into open session. Motion approved via roll call vote. Following a discussion of the relative merits of all the candidates interviewed for the police officer position, a motion was made by Holcomb with a second by Micholic to make a conditional offer to Randy Dunkel and to create an eligibility list that includes, in order, Tanner Uhlig and Alex Thompson. After some discussion regarding the upcoming vacancy that will be created in March 2018 with the retirement of Chief Sparks, the commission approved making a conditional offer to Tanner Uhlig for a start date on or after March 5, 2018. Motion approved. Motion by Holcomb with a second by Maloney to promote Shane Heilmann to the position of Captain effective March 5, 2018. Motion approved. There being no additional business, a motion was made by Micholic with a second by Podolske to adjourn. Motion approved. The meeting adjourned at 7:30 pm. Respectfully Submitted, Dave Eisenreich
