Meeting Minutes of Joint Meeting of the Everest Metropolitan Police Department Joint Finance Committee and the Everest Metro Municipal Court Finance Committee, dated 06/26/19 Present: Wally Sparks – President; Village of Weston Nathan Fiene – Trustee; Village of Weston Mark Maloney – Trustee; Village of Weston Denny Richmond – Alderman; City of Schofield Clay Schulz- EMPD Police Chief Kristy Isberner– EMPD Administrative Assistant Absent: Kari Carroll – Alderman; City of Schofield Kregg Hoehn – Mayor; City of Schofield Milt Olson – Chairman; Town of Weston I. CALL TO ORDER A. President Sparks opened the meeting at 1700 hrs. Roll call. B. Approval of minutes of meeting held, June 13th, 2019. *M/S/P Maloney/Fiene II. NEW BUSINESS – EMPD A. Discussion and approval of the new captain’s salary – Chief Schulz stated that Nick Aldrich had been promoted from Patrol Sergeant to Captain, starting in the captain’s position Monday, June 24th. He stated that both Shane Heilmann and Robert Dickerson started off at $80,000 per year/salary as newly appointed captains. He stated he would like to start Nick Aldrich at $80,500. Chief Schulz explained that he would like to do a more in-depth comparison regarding this position as some departments call it different things (deputy chief/lieutenant, etc.). He stated if at that time he felt that the salary should be adjusted he would bring that before the committee. A motion was made by Fiene and seconded by Richmond to start Captain Aldrich at $80,500 per year. It was then discussed about back dating that to June 24th as that is when Nick Aldrich officially began his duties as a captain. The motion was amended by Fiene and re-seconded by Denny to start Captain Aldrich at a salary of $80,500 per year and to have the effective date on that as June 24th. *M/S/P Fiene/Richmond III. CHIEF’S REPORT – A. Department Updates- Chief Schulz stated that the last candidate from the old list was no longer interested in the position, so as soon as Captain Aldrich is up to speed the process will begin to fill the vacancy that will be created in August by Rob Dickerson’s leaving. Chief Schulz also stated he would be meeting with Officer Schremp on Friday and would like to set up the first meeting for contract negotiations for the 2nd week in July. IV. REPORTS: VI.
