Meeting of the: PARK & RECREATION COMMITTEE Date/Time: Monday, March 24, 2014 @ 5:15 P.M Location: Village Hall (5500 Schofield Ave) MINUTES Committee member Berger called the meeting to order at 5:15 p.m. Members in attendance included Joe Abt, Roger Esker and Tina Kollmansberger. Sharon Jaeger was absent, but was excused. Park Superintendent Osterbrink, Administrator Guild, Planning & Development Director Higgins, and Recording Secretary Heather Meliska, were also in attendance. There was 1 person in the audience and Mark Roffers and Colet Springer were presenters for the Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (CORP). 1) Approval of Agenda *M/S/P Esker/Abt: to approve the agenda. 2) Public Comment/Correspondence A representative from Youth Baseball requested to be added to the next Park & Rec agenda, in the request the Village allows them to do sponsorship signs to help fundraise their teams. The signs would be inside the fenced area of the field and would be posted on the fences not in the ground. 3) Consideration of pervious meeting minutes *M/S/P Esker/Abt: to approve the minutes of 11/14/2013 4) New Business a) Discussion & Recommendation re: Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan Guild started out discussing the current CORP we have and to revisit the Park & Rec CORP. Mark Roffers and Colet Springer were presenters who discussed options for a new CORP. Roofers explains the idea for a new CORP is to provide recreation for people during all 4 seasons. Roffers came up with a list of projects and would like to meet in July and then again in September to show the process. Roffers would like to get feedback from the sporting teams and meet with Marathon County. Also, there was discussion on adding the multi-use path on Howland, up Alderson and Shorey and back to Camp Phillips. 5) Reports from Staff a) Reports from the Park & Recreation Superintendent Osterbrink re:  Attached to the agenda is a survey from multiple Aquatic Center facilities around the state, ice rink at Kennedy Park is now closed, started interviews for the Aquatic Center. b) Reports from Administrator Guild re:  There have been some exciting conversations Guild has been having with other agencies and partners in regard to the Rothschild/Schofiled Aquatic Center and Park investment projects. 6) Reports from the Park & Recreation Committee members No comments from committee members. 7) Adjourn Next meeting April 28th.
