PUBLIC COMMENTS (on recording https://youtu.be/kqUSNqCI42U?t=45)
Jim Pinsonneault – 5002 Arrow Street, Weston. Request to Administrator Donner about
the final costs for the new municipal building. Expressed concerns that the contingency of
$200,000 for the project previously provided was more than enough. Discussed that there are
extra items that are continuing to flow through and was wondering if it is still on track and how will
we have enough money to cover all of those expenses. Also, what can we do with the extra
expenses that are coming forward. Question regarding WPS bills, Cintas contract, lighting for
new signs, maybe we can look to those and other expenses and save some money with them.

5. Presenting a Certificate of Appreciation to Brittany Jensen on behalf of the Everest
Metro Police Department. (on recording https://youtu.be/kqUSNqCI42U?t=397)
Chief Clay Schulz presented Brittany Jensen with an award for her courageous efforts
to assist a police officer on September 15 when that officer was pursuing an individual
who was suspected of a stolen vehicle. The individual fled and stopped in the Pick N’
Save Parking lot and began to struggle with the officer and tried to flee. The individual
the suspect attempted to throw the officer off of him and that is when a citizen, Brittany
Jensen, ran over and assisted in attempting to control the suspect.
6. Authorize letter of support for Wausau/Central Wisconsin Convention & Visitors Bureau
(CVB) request to Marathon County for American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Funds to
Build a Visitor’s Center. (on recording https://youtu.be/kqUSNqCI42U?t=793)
Tim White, 225721 Swan Avenue, Wausau and Jodi Maguire 209351 County Road O,
Mosinee presented regarding the Village of Weston providing a letter of support for the
CVB. Tim informed the Board of the exciting things the CVB is doing and provided its
appreciation for Weston’s support to increase tourism and visitors. The CVB has had
an opportunity come forward in that the Board approved the purchase of a building and
the CVB is trying to figure out funding for the use of that building. An opportunity for
Marathon County market grants was presented and Jodi was future thinking in that the
CVB should apply for a chunk of the ARPA grant money from the County to assist them
with the building. The CVB is applying for the grant and able to request $600,000. They
have a design for building a new structure on that property off of County Road NN which
is the old Shakey’s building. They would like to tear it down and put a smaller structure
that will serve the community due to the cost of what it would take to fix and update the
current building. The CVB is looking for letter of support from the Village of Weston
saying we are in support of the efforts and believe that adding a building to represent
Marathon County would be a good idea.

suggested that they get additional letters of support from the hotels in the area as well.

7. Stillwater Landing Mobile Home Park Update (on recording https://youtu.be/kqUSNqCI42U?t=1432)
Keaton Schultz 3400 Regent, Stevens Point, WI and Daniel Weller, McCulloch Street,
Stevens Point, WI. President Maloney asked them to appear before the Board to review
and have discussion regarding the agenda item on update on Stillwater Landing Mobile
Home Park. Mr. Schultz talked about meeting on May 26 after license was tabled,
thought it would be a good idea if the Village approached them with regard to
positive/negative about the park. A list was provided to them at that time and was
brought forward at the last meeting. They worked on those items and other items as
well. When they heard nothing, they thought everything was good. They did not know
the park was in discussion in September meeting until he received an email with the list
in that email. He questioned why he got the email eight days later and was upset that
he was not told about the discussion at the board meeting until after it happened.
President Maloney indicated that he wrote an email to staff and that he had not seen
that list prior to the meeting and the Board did not ask for the update. Mr. Schultz asked
for better communication from the Village. They don’t want to see a negative view of
their park without them being able to be present to discuss it with the Village.
Administrator Donner said that there was an ongoing matter that was going on in the
Park that staff accompanied Officer Soberg on. It was during those visits to the park
that staff observed violations and that is where the recent update resulted from. Cronin
asked about vacant properties and if they can be removed. Schultz said they have
demo permits which they requested to remove those vacant properties that are in
violation.
