Agenda for the Environmental Committee Meeting Date: June 21, 2021 1. Opening – Dave Brizzolara “This meeting, which conforms with the OPEN PUBLIC MEETINGS LAW, CHAPTER 231, PUBLIC LAWS OF 1975, is a regular Environmental Committee meeting. Notices have been filed with our local official newspapers and posted on the Municipal Bulletin Board”. 2. Roll Call – X Dave Brizzolara X Dritan Xhillari X Norel Blundo X Boniface Kiamue X Kathryn Cribbin X Councilman Chris Montana 3. Public Forum 4. Passing Meeting minutes – Passed May 2021 meeting minutes 5. Council Liaison Report – Chris Montana – we have not received any new student applications; Chris has 3 names he can provide to the group of who he has spoken to – Norel Blundo to reach out to Martha’s junior friends at the library to see if there is any interest 6. Community Garden – Water tank issues continue – Chris Montana – sprinklers are on the horizon; Boswell Engineering said if the lines can be buried shallow enough and winterized, they won’t freeze. Ballfields A and B must be capped; frequency of watering will probably be 3X per week; the tanks could be elevated in the meantime if it is possible 7. TREX Program – Norel Blundo has emailed Stephanie Hicks and drafted an article to the Pascack Press to kick off the restart of the program. We are looking at two locations – the Library and Borough Hall – and a restart date of July 29; Stop n’Shop in Emerson is no longer weighing or doing a pick up, but other place are – Stop n Shop in Paramus, Wegman’s, Kohls, Whole Foods are doing pick ups; could get volunteers from Green Team and WEAC – Dave Brizzolara – can we capitalize on some of the summertime events in the park? The big attraction is the July 29 Bruce Springsteen cover band. Can we hand out some material at this? – Chris Montana – could also use the August movie nights to our advantage – Kate Cribbin/Norel Blundo/Dritan Xhillari –we could use this as an opportunity to showcase the restart of the TREX program. i. Dritan – could show a table full of bags for shock factor. ii. Norel – could relaunch TREX at the concert; set up whole exhibit, use bench and the table with bags; iii. Kate – could record progress on social media iv. Dave to work with Norel to update the Pascack Press article to make sure it is published prior to the concert in the park. 8. Environmental Scavenger Hunt – Kate Cribbin – We should be starting to sprinkle some messaging out in the public leading up to an event later this year – Chris Montana to look into the price for the prize 9. Nugent Park – Chris Montana has contacted scout masters Tim McClair and one other about coming to the July meeting – Dave Brizzolara – we should spend some focused time during the July meeting on the Nugent Park Project 10. Open Discussion – Kate Cribbin – could we think about other forms of communication besides email? Slack a potentially possibility? – Chris to check with Karen Hughes about this
